Headlook auto toggle

Prior to v1.3, when viewing a panel, headlook was automatically disabled. Then, when reverting to the forward view, it was automatically re-enabled.

This functionality appears to have been deliberately removed in v1.3 (maybe to appease head-tracker/VR users).

I would like this behavior to be brought back (perhaps as a togglable option) as it is very useful for those of us that prefer not to use head-tracking/VR.

I could support this thread if I knew what the cause and effect is.

In the live game 2.3 (ie. not 2.4 beta and your post date is, pre-beta) ..
If I'm in headlook mode looking at my feet and press 1 to open a panel, my field of view centres on it.
Close panel (1) and my view reverts to where I was .. looking at feet in free headlook.

Could it be that there's another setting .. some sort of UI focussing .. that I have set up where you have not?
Eg. the feature you want (if I understand it right) might still be there but renamed?

What you're seeing is right, and how it's always been.

What I'm talking about is this:

1. The controller settings page allows you to assign certain pairs of functions to the same button (i.e. it doesn't throw up the "button already assigned" message).

2. There is a headlook toggle function.

So for instance, you can assign "View Left" and "Move panel cursor left" to the same button, e.g. to a hat.

When you're looking out of the front of the cockpit (with headlook enabled), the button will move your view to the left.

Then when you look at a panel, you *manually* disable headlook, and you can use the same button to move the panel cursor to the left. Then you look forward again and manually re-enabled headlook.

Now, prior to v1.3, when you looked at a panel (i.e. you entered UI Focus mode), headlook would *automatically* be disabled. This meant that the button would automagically start controlling the panel cursor. Then when you reverted to the forward view, it would again automagically control your view panning.

This was a really handy feature, but was unfortunately removed in v1.3. It was listed in the patch notes as something like "fixed ui focus headlook toggle bug".

Personally I saw it as a feature (and suspect it actually was, given that the controller page allows you to assign two functions to one button).

I reported this multiple times, and was once advised that it might get looked at if I can drum up support from other players. So if anyone does care, please post!

Not sure if this is a similar thing but I'm using a tobii 4C eye tracker. I've been exploring for a while so not been in stations but usually when I look at panels it focuses on them. However when I open "view engineers" it still continues to allow me to look around - unless I disable the tracker itself. I've been trying to find something in game to enable me to just have it as a normal screen but can't find anything. "toggle head look" doesn't seem to be doing anything. Any suggestions?
