The Mandalay has actually been one of the more attractive offerings from my perspective. However, I'm entering a stage where I'll almost certainly have less time to play for a bit, so it might not offer as much value due to timing.

Funny that, there is a story about JCPenny trying to do sales legit and found that nobody bought things anyway, so they now mark everything "on sale" while it is actually just the normal price all along.

Well that, and it will certainly somehow be cursed for you in some strange way.
I get annoyed by the glaring Artemis suit on hands and forearms all the time but all the options to tone it down are priced way above what I consider acceptable since the price rise. I think a 75% reduction might be a bit more reasonable. I do budget for Arx a bit, but only for ships nowadays, unless there's some really spectacular sale.

The price hike is now more than one month ago, so that should be safe. The Aussi law applying for their service in Australia can be met pretty easily, I'd say: refuse to take purchases from there. No winning by paying for australian commanders anymore.
I found suit cosmetics questionably priced even before they decided to crank them up, most likely due to the fact that basically everything (with a few exceptions) is only sold in “packs” so you can’t get certain types of base colot changes to use without getting the “pack”(which is pointless if you are never going to use those other items in it).
And I still didn’t just get an all-black version of the Artemis because some designers at Frontier seem to have an extreme aversion to it so I had to settle on the mostly black version that has some weird tones of reddish brown slapped on it for no good reason (that I can see). Safe to say that I would almost certainly not have bothered with these prices, where the original price is basically (almost) what it now is on sale (aka no thanks).
That's one thing where I don't regret my alpha buy-in: the Pioneer suit. I love its simple design.
And it's mostly black too. The Dom colors for Merc rank have been cool. Can't say the same for the garish Exobio Arti ones.
Honestly, none of the suit designs really speak to me. I'd like the Nomad pack except I spent a lot of time designing my character and don't want to hide her face.
Ultimately the fact that all of them are just affectations kinda kills the dream a bit. If they actually had a functional purpose - like if the strike pack made you actually have more armor - then it'd be a different matter, but frankly, I just don't do Odyssey content around other people enough to care.
If they want me to care what I look like, they need to give me a reason to actually play with people who will see me.

Not really. Two negatives don't make a positive.
I bought the preorder while console release was still being claimed as imminent.
When my PS4 account was transferred I copied it to the preorder account so have the suits.
Depends what you’re doing with them.

The problem wtih suits and weapons was for me with finding setups which I like and also fits together (colours) ... imo this was the bigest issue. I fortunatelly get all this before price rise, and it was not cheap ... Example of tougher choice is dominator suit (strike combatant pack) where available colours were really challenging ... it would be nice if someone at Frontier side can look at it and give to us players little better colour variety, or at least some "basic" colours for all suits, weapons ... not easy with all those parts. Thinking about it now weapons colours/paints especially are challange ... it looks like paints for suits and weapons created different teams.
If I should say which suit pack (look) I liked the most, then it would be Nomad pack

I did very similar before the price hike, and found the same problems with regards to finding sets that worked for the aesthetic I wanted, particularly colour matching between sets. I'm happy with what I've got now, but it wasn't cheap even back then. To do it today would be financially irresponsible at the new prices. The chances of me ever changing my suit cosmetics now are slim to nil.
Of all the things FDev have done recently, this is the most frustratingly baffling, and certainly the topic I've been most outspoken about. Just let me finish painting my fleet in tactical colours for crying out loud! As with suits, the chances of me buying new paintjobs are slim to nil unless they reintroduce the tactical colours I was working through as my fleet expanded.
Like many CMDRs, the only ARX I've bought since the store changes have been for ships. The fact so many of us are doing the same thing can't have gone unnoticed surely?
