Heavy Weight Champions Circuit 3303
January 7- February 11

Private Group: Braben Is Thargoid

REGISTRATION

Mission:
The mission of Heavyweight Champions Circuit is to provide a challenging, competitive atmosphere, testing our skills in some of the most difficult conditions known - landing the largest ships under extreme gravity. Additionally, we hope this experience helps bring confidence to explorers landing on unknown worlds, and allows explorers to hone their skills landing on any planet without damage.

Minimum jump range:
We have not discovered an area that a high jump range is required. But remember, the lower the jump range, the more time it takes to reach waypoints!
Update, we have discovered if you have less than 20Ly, you will struggle at a few waypoints!

Rendezvous and Launch times (IGT):

Weekends: Meetup 19:00, Launch 20:00
Weekdays: Meetup 24:00, Launch 01:00

I'M IN.

I'm in! Maybe I can get full sized thrusters for my Anaconda by then. If not, I'll probably bring my Python. Anyone going shieldless for hardcore mode?

Little disappointed if truth be told I thought this would be a circumnavigation of the galaxy. Ah well. I would be on CCN expedition on that date anyway :(

I notice you had 0 pips to engines for that. That's pretty much the exact opposite of what I would have done. It seems counterintuitive - What's the reason?

To avoid having too much thrust - I use keyboard for throttle. Since you go in nose down and there's no way I could have boosted up, it's countercounterintuitive to me to have 4 pips on engine. Guess we have different intuitions ;)

That's cool. Mines better :p

And yet I only needed common sense.

Additionally, we hope this experience helps bring confidence to explorers landing on unknown worlds, and allows explorers to hone their skills landing on any planet without damage.

Rules:
This is a heavy ship only expedition! We will be visiting VERY high gravity planets, and taking ONLY the most massive ships available to us.
What does that mean? That means we're limiting by hull mass the ships that can come along on this expedition.

Lowest mass: 350T (Python)
Highest mass: Unlimited

Ships available (lowest to highest mass)
Python
Imperial Clipper
Anaconda
Type-7
Federal Assault Ship
Orca
Federal Gunship
Federal Dropship
Federal Corvette
Type-9
Beluga
Imperial Cutter

Oooh...this sounds like fun.

Shall I bring my blinged-up Orca or get a Type 9...Type 9 I think since I suspect I will probably die on this little adventure.

How do we sign up?

Registration site should be working: https://smallworlds.io/

That said; there doesn't seem to be a warning / update to let you know that you have registered and signed up. The site is still in the very basics right now and ... partially functions. That said, if anyone ever has any issues, just let me know either here or in PM and I'll make sure to get your info to get everyone up in the registration!

I have updated the OP, on a side note (also in OP now)

WE NEED A FLAGSHIP!

Rules of entering:
A short story in role play fashion, telling us, how you’re the best commander in the galaxy!
Up to or near 500 words (less than one page written)
Record of previous expeditions (more doesn't mean better, just looking for those with experience!)

(You can either post it here for fun, or PM me directly)

Different intuitions based on different control inputs. I have a throttle lever so would have put more pips to engines to strengthen my ventral thrusters (and keep my big butt in the air easier). That you landed that thing on a keyboard is truly impressive - thanks for sharing!

As a high-G world lover, if it wasn't for the fact I have my own exploration trip planned setting off in the new year, I'd do this. As it is though, be safe out there and know that I'll be tilting a glass to you when you hit the HD 148937 3 visitor beacon. Hopefully not literally hitting it, obviously. :D
