Hello new here but this question probably isn't so sorry

Hi everybody, as mentioned I'm very new here.

I only discovered PC about a month ago (buying it just before it went on sale [where is it]) after becoming obsessed with seeing peoples creations on YT.

I love the game and currently working on my own Shadow of the Collosus inspired themed park and rides however when I'm trying to do detailing I just can't seem to find a good variation of assets in the base game. I'm not the most creative person compared to others I've seen with combining assets, however is it just a case that you get so much more better variaty assets in all the add on packs (which I have none yet)? or is there assets/objects you can download of the steam Workshop? and if so where are they?

I've been trying to find assets/objects like round pillars and other stone patterned objects as well as much more varied foilage but not really finding what I need and I have no idea how I would create my own assets to add in to the game (just figured out how to add my own music lol.

Any help for a new guy would be much appreciated [yesnod]

Cheers

Hello, welcome to the forums!

The DLC does add more variation, however with the base game there is quite a lot that can be achieved by thinking outside of the box and using pieces in ways they were not intended. You can rotate many pieces and sink them into each other. Also people create custom pieces this way. Currently you cannot import your own assets.

There is a lot more foilage in the Adventure pack, however I found myself before it came out, that you can get nice results from using lots of colour variation and placing plants inside each other. There is also more stone objects in the Spooky Pack/Adventure, but you can still achieve a lot by recolouring exisiting pieces and pillars. Have you watch any builders on YouTube? You might be able to pick up some techniques.

Thanks for the welcome and the reply :)

Ah right well this park might be a long time project as after paying full price for the main game I'll wait till the DLC is on offer.

I've obviously seen some Channel 5 Gaming reviews of cool rides but the only playthroughs or actual builds I've seen are Nerd3 and Flabaliki, if you have got any suggestions of videos/series to watch for ideas that would be fine. I'll just have to spend some more time getting creative with existing elements.

Welcome to the forums! It can be daunting and overwhelming at first when you have a set vision in your mind and struggling to find the execution. As others have mentioned, think outside the box. One thing with foliage I’ve discovered is, rotate it, flip it, etc. you will be surprised what kind of results and new visuals you get. For example, the underside of the rose bush can be great for an overgrown or weedy look. Or the dead trees if you have the spooky pack can be used to create a trunk/base and then manipulate it and add to it with more dead limbs etc and then add the colorable bushes to create different foliage.

I was once where you were. And I really started just taking objects and inspecting and testing them in ways other than their “intended” purposes. Which is really helpful and what many of the great you tubers do!

Thanks for the welcome's funny enough I couldn't read all your replies yesterday but because I've been watching planet coaster vids recently for the first time when I've gone online Silvarret and his Jagerhorn series has been recommended to me and I've watched the first episode, sure enough to say I've subscribed to him.

I'll also check out all the other recommendations for inspiration :)

Thanks also for the idea's above I'll start messing with combining and flipping objects to create new looks :) looking forward to getting more time to experiment and hopefully share something creative :)

Also how do you make tracks clip through terrain/objects even if the game normally wouldn't normally? Like a no clip for tracks without using tunneling.

I've seen a few designs do this but I can't seem to do it.
