Newcomer / Intro Help! How do I get in touch with my ship...?

Here's what happened...

I took a (small) mission at an Odyssey concourse to pick up a parcel....
(I was just doing this to familiarise myself with the new upgrade)

When I got there, I found that the target settlement had no large pads, so I couldn't land my ship.
OK, I thought, I'll just land outside and take the SRV in. I did this, dismissing my ship to orbit.
I drove into the settlement in the SRV and parked it, disembarking in my suit. However, I must have done something wrong, 'cos somebody shot me.
I woke up in another system about 60LY away.
I got the Apex shuttle back to the settlement, but the SRV was gone.

How can I call my ship and tell it to land....?

There's a recall ship function in the quick access menu you get when you press the "Q", move away from the settlement and use that!

Are you referring to the 'wheel'? My 'wheel' doesn't have this function - it deals only with local matters, like flashlight, medikit, # of grenades, etc

That wheel is activated by the Alt key ?
Hold Q down , then A to move left I think then S to find recall . ( if using default key set)

Yep, I got the wheel ok, but there's no function on it to recall the ship
(pressing 'S' just makes me move backwards using the defaults....)

There are "two" wheels. One activated by alt I think, I never use it, which has grenades and other stuff, one by default key "Q", hold it down for a few seconds to bring it up, this has things like system map, inventory and other stuff, on the left side of the Q menu is the function "recall ship".

TWO wheels!
Yes, indeed there are.... one is used with the ALT key, and the other is accessed with the Q key. (it is apparently known as the 'Insight Hub' - who knew!)
