Hi, so i just got elite dangerous throught steam. i have purchesed and installed the game but for some reason it will not load the game. it comes up with a message saying update required but it will not update. i have followed the steps it tells me to do but still it will not let me play the game.. can anyone help with this as it is driving me insane..

There was an issue with the latest launcher for some. It could be that still. Elite is due for an update on Tuesday 23rd.

so is there no way i can fix it? seems a bit strange that id have to wait for the next update.. its letting me play the demo.. money well spent lol...

Have you try starting the game from the Steam client or just the shortcut on the desktop. Not sure if this will work. Find where Steam installed the game on your storage device, look for the executable. Make a shortcut of the executable to your desktop.

Other than that make a support ticket to Frontier support https://support.frontier.co.uk/login.php

As far as I understand. It’s something Frontier can fix from their side. I play direct on PC, so not sure how steam works. Maybe someone with more knowledge or who has experienced what you are now will chime in.

I thought that Frontier had fixed the launcher issue (I had the issue, no longer do). That issue wasn't that it wouldn't update, but that Horizons wasn't showing.

Is it Steam or the FD launcher telling you about an update?

Edit: And I should add that it would be worth raising a support request in case you can't resolve it. You can always close the request if you do manage to solve the problem in the meantime. :)

Yeah, support ticket and maybe look for one of the many other threads about this which are currently active. Not saying it's not an annoying issue, but I don't know that having 4 threads all with different solutions is great either.

Look here for steam... "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Elite Dangerous\EDLaunch.exe"

just run the EDLaunch.exe manually, login and play.... (providing you already did all the account linking stuff through Frontiers website)
