Engineers Help us FD! We need store cargo

Absolutely agreed... it's ridicules that you can't transfer and store cargo away, especially now with the engineers and their special demands. And it's simply not practicable to fly around in my Explorer Anaconda to get FSD pimps attached, while NPC and other player go after my nearly defenseless vessel. We need at least the possibility to park a ship at an engineer's site and store/collect the missing materials in that ship until all is in place. Please add this feature to the next update as priority 1 !!!

...If someone wants to buy, or pay rent for, 10.000 tons of cargo space in every single station, in every single solar system between Achenar and Sol then let them do that...
Fair enough, your opinion, but I disagree.
Elite for me is specifically not an empire building game - its supposed to be about one person trying to survive a difficult galactic environment.
All that stuff with property owning, hoarding and self importance belongs in other inferior games.

But the problem here is that (although the cargo storage would enable pilots to fly empty, thus making the environment intrinsically easier and less dangerous, which I believe is the primary reason for demanding it), but people would still whinge about the commodities.
"I have X but it is stored 200LY away - c'mon FDev let me magically teleport it into my ship - its more fun i'nnit"!?

I know storage is coming (another FDev cave-in to tear storm), but I hope it is restricted and believable - no more magic please.

Agree with all your points here. Some things could do with improving from a usability point of view - like being able to temporarily store cargo while you switch to another ship at that station and upgrade it's storage. But yes, no space magic :)

I think a quick temporary fix would be to be able to send acquired engineer commodities directly to an engineer that requires them, instead of this bizarre gating effect.

Every time I get Commodities from missions I promptly discard them ASAP.

I don't care what value they have.
I don't care what they are for.
I don't care if I may need them later.

Being unable to store the items in a hangar, warehouse, storage container or whatever you want to call it makes giving out Commodities as a reward completely flawed.

Several of my ships don't even have cargo space to begin with, being purely combat ships (e.g. my iEagle and Viper Mk3) and others I don't want to burden with unnecessary additional mass (e.g. my FdL).

Give us storage!

Either make us buy it at a local station, or make us rent it, scale the price up or down based on how much cargo space you are acquiring and the location of the station being near center of the bubble or in the distant frontier... I don't care. Just give us storage.

And for the love of Jesus Christ, Muhammed, Allah, God, Mother Mary, the flying spaghetti monster, the Sun, a broken refridgerator hanging from the beams in your garage or whatever deity, demi-god, spiritual entity or pile of junk you worship... do not impose some Galactic Storage Limit or some nonsense where we can ONLY store 40 tons of cargo across the entire galaxy.

I know you love your arbitrary and completely illogical limitations with zero ties to anything that would be realistic, but do not limit storage space.

If someone wants to buy, or pay rent for, 10.000 tons of cargo space in every single station, in every single solar system between Achenar and Sol then let them do that.

What he said

But I don't think the great and glorious Broken Refrigerator - hallowed be it's name - would like the fact you did not put it's name in capitals.

Correction: Just noticed that cargo is transferred now, when you buy a new or change to a ship with sufficient cargo space!!! Had 4t cargo in my ASP and bought a new Sidewinder in station... before 2.1 you got a message, that it is not possible as your cargo hold isn't empty... now it works !!! Didn't read that before elsewhere...

Just sell them and don't bother. After all Engineers is yet another feature which you can simply ignore, nobody's forcing anybody ; )

If that is the case then what is the point of Horizons and the 2.1 update thus far?
If I knew that this is how Engineers would turn out - with such a badly implemented RNG crafting system and lack of storage, I never would have purchased Season 2.

In case of engineer commodities the point is to get them when you need it. Otherwise just sell them to engineers with a market to increase rep or sell them just for cash.
Why is this so difficult.

New content is released
People say I should ignore the new content
Mind = Blown!

Not having storage in place when releasing an expansion like "Engineers" is like Apple releasing Itunes, with out making Devices or computers..

Cheers Cmdr's

Unless Braben has changed his mind it ain't happening. Didn't he say something in the tune of not wanting resource management, since "the game is about flying ships, not hoarding stuff" ?

if he ever said that, i'm sure he changed his mind since we now have to manage 70 different materials with only 600 max on us, all of them RNG based to find. And they said that they already wanted to add a storage.

They could add limited storage, and only on engineer bases, that'd stop people hoarding stuff to play the market.

Or maybe it would be good if you could just give the engineer the stuff you have and return with the rest of what you need later?

Coming soonTM. Prolly 2.2 I guess. Unfortunately this means my break expands until this will happen.

I don't think they've mentioned anything in favor of storage for materials and commodities. Only for modules.

In any case, like you, this for me is currently a deal-breaker. There's no way I can stand behind the decision to put it off until the next major release. It's impeding my experience.

There's one side that claims to aim for specific upgrades, complaining about the constant grind and unreliable sources of materials,
Another that claims to play without aiming at the engineers specifically, which is met by a barrier to storing any valuables you acquire over time.

Not a very good rollout for Engineers I am afraid. Jus speaking for myself but I am ignoring the crafting until storage is added. I just sell off any mission rewards, if and when storage is added I will worry about that stuff, until then then the game is just fine without it
