Hey Frontier, from CMDR CCStonewall

How about you start supporting PlayStation again! We do not want much. I looked at your profit sheet and you are telling us that you do not have the money to place a small team to make monthly changes? It must be so hard to build a community goal per month. Covid is over and so you should be hire someone to do this. Thanks.

I am with you, Stone.
As alternative, I would even suggest crowd sourcing some community goals and just having the employee implement them, once a month. Cannot take more than 1-2 hours.

I'm a pcvr player and fully agree that Frontier should re-support the PlayStation with Odyssey and the PSVR 2, I believe with just an announcement of this so many old and new players would flood in. If I were Frontier I'd definitely want my player base up and excited, spending money at the store on items for their ships and avatars. Star Citizen has generated an incredible amount of money on excitement alone. Elite is a vast functioning game that could grow exponentially with this concept.

FDev is a business and a business doesnt invest money if they know they won't get a guaranteed profit margin.

Now?
They're 4 years old already and FD didnt deem the effort to port Live4.0 / Odyssey to consoles as a worthy endeavor.
And by "worthy endeavor" i mean the return of investment for this effort.

They also said they cannot support 2 code bases at the same time (3.8 and 4.0) So that's why 3.8 reached Legacy status and is no longer developed / has no added content
At least you can still play the game.

The developer of Lemnis Gate shut down the servers after 2 years and whoever purchased the game can no longer play it.
Just 2 years.

Meanwhile ArenaNet still support and patch Guild Wars 1. Little bits here and there, and I believe only 1 or 2 devs and some of it even in spare/overtime. There's companies who just love their product, and then there's FDEV....nevermind that ED is still being sold on consoles.

Well, ED is sold on consoles, but it's a fully playable game - just that it's not a real live service game anymore since it wont have any more developments, but it doesnt ask for subscriptions nor has any lootboxes. As a single player adventure/sandbox it still has a lot to offer.

So, i dont really see it as a big problem (the only big problem is how it's - still is? - advertised as a live game, which is not exactly that)

Last time I checked, they changed nothing. I'll look into it tonight on my PS4 (I'll edit this reply). IMO, they should have immediately gone over every bit of marketing for consoles, editing as needed. That is the one issue I do have with now they handled the split. They didn't release one last update to keep it honest.

Edit: They haven't changed the description at all that I can see. It still mentions updates at the end.

Every time I go back to PS4 and start up ED Legacy to say hello to my 'other' FC left in its static position, I am in awe of the beautiful space graphics as opposed to the sort of color wash space in Ody which I can only describe as like a real time (moving) 'paint by numbers' picture, consisting of different shades (like rivers) of Black/Dark Grey down to Grey/Orange

Any remedy to the PC space color wash? Or is it just me and/or my settings on Shield TV GFN? (I just get used to it, but DO notice the complete difference when booting up PS4 Legacy).

EDIT - Whoops, sorry moderators for the emoji I used (it is in the list of drop down smilies in the forums), I was looking for a 'Yeuch!' emoji, but couldn't find one

That isn't a PC issue, it's a GFN issue. EDO looks fantastic on my PC, compared to EDH on my PS4 Pro.

I just post it to stop carrier fees since no support or all update work stopped years ago. I have all previos Elite games and this one got me enthusiastic to come back to the franchise, only difference, I bought it for console since I was not playing any game on PC, big mistake, I should had bought the PC version :( Be well everyone

Came here just to see if this was a topic of discussion, thanks for saying it! I've been playing since 2016, and while I do have the ability to play on PC, many of my friends don't. I've got friends who would love to play but don't because they know it's no longer being supported like the PC version. And I get that the base game is a fully realized game, with tons to do. But for those that love the game, seeing the PC version get all these new features, ships, narratives etc is just a huge bummer. It seems like Fdev has renewed their efforts to support the game after a few tough years, so in my opinion it would make sense to revitalize the console version. Especially considering they're making efforts to properly monetize the game. I think console gamers are much more open to live service games now than they were when the game originally released. So I feel like if they continue to add meaningful paid content, console players will buy it! I would. That's just my two cents.

You have a CG every week - one is active right now. More than we have on the live servers...
Hmm, unless they don't have CGs available on PS5 or there is something special I need to do to see them, haven't seen any active CG since I started actively playing again.

The CG shows up every 3-4 weeks. It is always the same type of AX CG with a different target system. It usually takes 2-3 days to complete. No good rewards really, just money. Often only 20 CMDRs participate. But they are hardcore AX pilots.
To see the CG, select it in the mission board. It always starts on Thursdays, after the tick. But as I said, only every 3-4 weeks.

Odyssey should be very doable on the PS5. Sell it as a separate game if needed.

PSVR2 support could be more laborious, but while it would be nice, it's not absolutely crucial.

If it isn't profitable, why keep it around ?
