Patch Notes Update Horizons 2.0 beta change log #6

It is all about the payouts when the mission them selves are so lacking in fun and interest ...I am not the only one that thinks this there are many have said it before and payouts has been brought up in obsidian ant last 3 videos too ...
All so just check steam forums they are a blaze with posts about lacking payouts
See, this is where I get confused, because there's been several threads calling high value smuggling missions fun, yet other missions with exactly the same mechanics are not fun.......so the reward is what makes it fun?
Now don't get me wrong, they could probably use a bit of tweaking, but my point is they do not need to be multi million to be fun at least for me.

And with all respect to Obsidian ant and other celebrities, but they are a person, with personal opinions, now granted I don't know what his level he wants the credits at, but using a celebrity or such as argument seems...off and odd?

I Agree with xondk, it's not about the money, money, money. (hangs his head in shame for the reference and sulks away) but it's true, or at least it shouldn't be.

An issue that start with "What I want is simple"

Michael, was the writing of 1Km in the patch notes, just a slip or a miscommunication? What I'm trying to get at is would you consider lowering it to 1Km after the release tomorrow?

I, personally, think that if the fade off happened then that shouldn't be too much of an issue as you could still find it from lower you just don't have the circle to guide you.

Is it just me, or is it the fact that people think the POI vanishes rather than just the graphic when you get below that level?

It was a mistake on my part - it should have been 1.5 km.

Michael

It's related with AMD drivers above the 15.7.1 and Windows 10. In this scenario, gpu usage in sc is under 10/20 % causing fps to drop below 10.

A lot of user suggested to downgrade to W8, install older drivers (15.6 or 14.12), make dual boot or do workaround like that. You know that this isn't acceptable.

In my case, with a freesync monitor I can't roll back bacause it's not supported by older drivers. Not to mention newer gpus (furys and r9 3xx) aren't supported by older drivers.

So we are stuck in this limbo where is "AMD fault not fdev, wait for a fix". In the meanwhile, as a premium backer, I'm losing the benefits I gained supporting this game back in the day.(test beta, lifetime expansion etc...if the game is unplayabe, there isn't so much to do here for me :( )

In addition, FD has stated that they are making the game (and supporting) for future iterations. That means that the game should strive to support upcoming and newer tech. To fall back and tell the used that "Sorry your tech is too up to date for it to be working properly and that you should use older stuff" is not in line with the forward view.

There are essentially 2 main (game) graphics renderers in the industry at the moment. It behoove FD to support both even if one does have less impact. How is FD supposed to support advances in multi GPUs like liquidVR or GameworkVR if they can't even fix a single card rendering process?

Hate to be annoying, and I hope it has simply been missed in the flood of posts but any thoughts or info on navigation compass only available when you aren't in supercruise/orbit flight? (previously said 25km realized its supercruise/orbit that's missing it my bad) feels kinda weird that it isn't available when other hud elements appear, so you can navigate better even on approach? that you need to drop into glide and such before it pops up?

do not be angry

I have no problem. FD must have it, since they are not capable to make a game with fun and depth concepts, and insist an do things in a shallow way. And forcing the use of SRV with the gameplay

I'm just putting my understanding of how this decision is amateur in the game, and reinforcing how much it should be reviewed.

From only a gameplay point of view(as sugestion), this is a bad decision as others posts indicate.

And you realise that you're getting so abusive about the fact a blue circle disappears yes? Not the POI itself?

I do love (and get equally frustrated in equal measure) how you always answer the first part of a question and leave the juicy bit we actually want answering hanging... :D

Its not that FUN = Profit ...its more of case of the mission its self is nearly all ways the very same basic task ...once you have done the same task 20 times ...you then want to make some profit in doing so but try progress through the game on mission only is nasty grind and at some point every one gonna just do trades to build credits and when bored they do missions ...But i feel i should be able to do any credit making task and it should payout time to credit ratio that puts all activities more on par with there each others payouts ....Planet missions are all most as bad as the mining when comes to time ratio to payouts and yes there fun now because its new but all ready playing 20 hours more on planets and i am thinking the planet grind is slow and quick to become more repetitive than one would have liked at this early stage ...

And when i am flaming its not the game i flame its a game feature ...and its all so one that is talked about a lot ..so there clearly is some more work to be done in that area ...and that is the only fault i have of the horizons beta some thing that can be fixed any time ...the overall engine FPS are great ...

Tho one more added change is like to see would be horizons hud should be locked to player view and not ship so that players can see the planet there flying around with head look but still see the altitude meter ...much like how HUD on jets are done in real life.....I am pretty sure this Type HUD featured locked to head look would work great for VR users ..

Will the Horizons release tomorrow require us beta testers to redownload the entire large game or can it be an incremental small download like with regular patches? I dont want to spend hours downloading the full release when the changes from beta 6 to public release are small. Thanks

Theoretically you can copy over the content of "PUBLIC_TEST_SERVER_64" (horizon beta) to the target folder for the Horizon release. Basically start download of Horizons, abort, note folder name and copy over content of latest beta. Then restart download - it should only download the diffs if there are any between beta 2#6 and Horizons release. Worked for me for previous betas.

I think the same needs to be done in space for the signal sources. A find mechanism or scan mechanic would make these far more interesting and logical.

In space, we already have the discovery scanner. It just needs to be tied to finding signal sources. Upon entering a new system, pinging it should not only reveal all astronomic objects, but also all signal sources in range, which are added in at random, but stay persistent for a varying amount of time, depending on the content of the signal source. Wreckages with salvage will be permanent, smugglers trying to buy illegal wares will despawn after a while... and respawn somewhere else, probably... and mission targets will spawn in addition to those random signals.

I really prefer POI Blue circle NOT fading at all, just keep their regions and I am OK with them grow bigger and cover the whole sensor screen when I am closer to the ground. The thing is that whenever it disappeared, I doubt myself whether I am in the POI zone anymore and wanted to go back up altitude to reconfirm - That's a bad experience.

Please also enable compass above OC Drop level at 25km. Try judging headings by reading lat/long changes is not fun.

Hey, don't you think folks that live in outposts with active missions to destroy their generators might actually see the missions on the board? That's kinda messed up. That would be like me going out to monster.com and seeing a job posting requesting a demolitions expert to level the water treatment plant in my home town...

I had problems with my 1 Gig GTX 560 Ti before Beta 6 (Textures were terrible until now).
Now i am the most happy human in the world! Everything looks fantastic for me.
Also performance is great for my whole computer and my GPU.
If it will stay for me as it is now then i am very grateful to Frontier.
Devs keep that way i am starting to love you again! :D

I tried landing on a moon with a very quick orbit, so I could observe the sunrise.

To my shock it suddenly 'clicked' into daylight, rather than gradually. Is this intended?

It seems that once the star is more than 50% visible behind the planet that is obscuring it, day mode switches on.

This is rather immersion breaking, and I hope it isn't the intended system.

I've not been to such a moon yet so can't comment on the effect but. You only get a gradual sun rise on a planet with an atmosphere. This is because the atmosphere bends the light around the horizon in a gradual way. With no atmosphere the sunlight appears as soon as it rises over the horizon with no gradual fade in. However you should get very long shadows until it rises in the sky.

I think its to do with a sequence of events. It happens if you deploy your SRV at a base and come back and take off. Go vertically up and you will hit a wall.

Just been playing this afternoon and encountered "the wall". I took off after a base mission and took the following photo. I then boosted away once back in the cockpit but promptly hit the wall and exploded!!

Have FD acknowledged this bug? Crumbs I'm not taking my Clipper anywhere near the surface until this is sorted.

Hrm, but at least to me, in more or less every game, they become repetitive at a certain point without fail, especially after doing the same type several times? I don't know what people are expecting I guess, because it seems to me something that happens in all games?

For those of us that have spent a lot of time configuring our driving controls in the beta, will those be overwritten by the live release tomorrow? What is the best way to preserve them?
