Why the sheep in particular? The Dall sheep is my least favorite animal in game. It is the only animal I would permanently remove from the game if I were somehow granted that power.

It feels like a strictly inferior version of both the Rocky mountain goat and the bighorn sheep. If either of those were to be added now, I feel like people would see them as redundant. Why the sheep in particular?
I don't hate the sheep but i agree with you. I also think it took the place of the musk ox, specially now that we have three more wild caprids and all of them more relevant and visually impressive. I would prefered a desert big horn sheep a lot more. Or a marco polo sheep. It feels like a strictly inferior version of both the Rocky mountain goat and the bighorn sheep. Also, something about the model looks off to me? I dunno, I’m no expert, but they look oddly chunky.
I think its probably for the better that we didnt get the mux ox back then seeing how the orang, anteater and stuff turned outI don't hate the sheep but i agree with you. Yes. You have a point. Although i look at the highland cow and the baboon and i'm not sure that even if comes out today we have any garantee that is going to look good either lolI think its probably for the better that we didnt get the mux ox back then seeing how the orang, anteater and stuff turned out
Controversially, I'd hope to see the Bighorn to come with a white color variant...It feels like a strictly inferior version of both the Rocky mountain goat and the bighorn sheep. If either of those were to be added now, I feel like people would see them as redundant.

Maybe they thought an obscure animal and a climbing caprine would be more interesting, but it is my headcanon that some variant of the bighorn sheep, by far the most culturally relevant and well-known caprid in North America, was at least in production for PZ. The musk ox was initially supposed to be in the Arctic pack, but they either wanted to save it to sell later or ran into issues with the fur texture. Perhaps they saw the demand for small mammals and realized they'd have to repurpose the bighorn sheep's 'spot' in the NA Animal pack. Whatever the reasoning for the change, I think the Dall sheep started its life as the bighorn. It feels like a strictly inferior version of both the Rocky mountain goat and the bighorn sheep. I think the devs were mostly on that "should be represented in captivity" train at launch. We also know that both Arctic Pack ungulates were outsourced and derived from base-game species. I just think Frontier simply had no interest in adding muskoxen for whatever reason (probably since Dall Sheep are easier to make). The musk ox was initially supposed to be in the Arctic pack, but they either wanted to save it to sell later or ran into issues with the fur texture
Are they though? They needed all the climbing animations. I think the rock was added with the ibex, but they use it as well. Musk ox would have required more texture work probably but i think overall would've been an easier pick than the dall's sheep. That said i'm actually kind of glad they weren't in the arctic pack. The sheep and the caribou are among the most cartoonish looking ungulates we have. At least if it comes out ib the next couple of packs there is a chance is going to end up looking very good... But then again the highland cow and markhor are a thing so.. idk.I think the devs were mostly on that "should be represented in captivity" train at launch. Pallas Cat. I cannot for the life of me figure out why so many people wanted that ugly cat. Yeah. I said it.So I am going to start a weekly hot take, with this being the first, 90% of the time they will be planet zoo/animal related but there might occasionally be something more broad. You can just give a opinion on the subject, even if you don't think you have a hot take, though they are preferred. So here it is.
What is a animal that was in the top that you felt was overrated. Any animal currently not in the game, like the Walrus or Secretary Bird will not count, only animals that have been already added. Here is your options

So which animal is overrated to you, you can still like this animal but if you feel it was overhyped then say why. I will start, I love the addax but why was it so popular then when added it was forgotten instantly, it is was so werid, so yeah it's both overrated and underrated.
I mean.. frontier version is ugly, but real life Palla's cat are popular cuz they look like a fat grumpy house cat which is very funny.Pallas Cat. I cannot for the life of me figure out why so many people wanted that ugly cat. Yeah. I said it.
Just more art shapes would also go a long way for signs. Like id kill for small 2d versions of the existing shapesWe desperately need more custom sign making options. Each new scenery pack should come with a new font or two in the art shapes letter sets. They should also add 2 additional sizes, one smaller, and one larger than the current 2 since we don’t have scaling.
I think they’re both ugly. Looks like a child’s drawing come to life.I mean.. frontier version is ugly, but real life Palla's cat are popular cuz they look like a fat grumpy house cat which is very funny.
I personally found them really interesting as well.

Wise wordsIf you like and want the same zoo animals as me, then you are based.
If you like and want zoo animals that I don't, then you are cringe.
