Hotas/Joystick help

yeah the HOTAS 4 is basically the HoTAS-X except its for PC/PS4 instead of PC/PS3.

I just bought my HOTAS X last week, been figuring about a control scheme on it since yesterday, crab's bindings work for me but I'll probably tweak them as I go along.


I wanted to get an X-55 or X-52 but all this talk of quality control issues for these past 2-3 years had me worried about buying the x-55.

OP: You neve said what price range you were looking in. Understandably I heard no Warthog. So yeah, Over $300 is a no go.

Did you have a ceiling on Price? And whether you could live without the throttle portion?

Reason I ask is for about the same money as the Hotas-X/Hotas 4 you could get a T.1600 joystick. It does not have a separate throttle, rather it is built in to the joystick base.

But it is WORLDS more precise in the stick that the Hotas-X. And you could always add a throttle later.....

Well I guess I am not willing to go higher than 100 bucks...

Is there that much of a difference between the 2?

EDIT: I've also heard some good stuff about the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, anyone got any thoughts on that?

T Flight Hotas X for me its a great starter, lots of button + lateral twist on the stick for the Sub £50 $70 ish price you wont go wrong.

The difference between Hall Sensors (T.1600M) and plain old pots (Hotas-x) is V*E*R*Y noticeable. I started on the Hotas-X and have tried several Hotas setups. Saitek Cyborg, X52-Pro and Logitech G940. MUCH finer control around the stick center. If you are more of a yank and bank (No offense intended, some people prefer that style) you will not care whether you have pots or hall sensors. If you want precision in your calculated maneuvers and (sometimes) slow/smooth inputs when docking or lining up a shot,,,,,,

Hall Sensor all the way.

I would not ever consider going back to a pots style joystick.

I use Joystick Curves (hat-tip to Jesse) on my X52 Pro (although it's compatible with any HID out there). It makes a massive difference for the kind of small manoeuvres you make when docking with flight assist off.

Hall sensors are great - the fewer mechanical parts the better in any scenario, but there aren't that many sticks, let alone HOTAS units, with them at the moment.

I'm actually considering moving to a Logitech 3D Pro and the G13 for the second analogue stick it would give me, should my X52 mod for an analogue thumbstick not work.

I picked up a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick off of Amazon.

it lacks the veblen good status of the hotas setup, but it's effective and cheap.
