Per other controllers weight is a problem. Even with the best solid mount the light weight Playseat Challenge chair will have issues. There will be a weight limit. As an example the Thrustmaster Warthog is just too heavy for such a light chair. I mounted the Warthog joystick to the very solid center plate. A fast rotate to the stop and the whole chair moves with me in it (me weighing 165 lbs or 75 kg)!
I also planed to use the mounting plate in the first place. But I found this position not to be comfortable since they purely had steering wheels in mind when designing this. Also the Plate is really heavy ( and the chair tends to tip over to left when you "open" the seat for entry which is why they already added the extensible support to left side.
With the mount I designed the HOTAS is very close to the CG ( wich basically is you butt when seated ) therefore any reactive force or balance issues will be greatly reduced, even if the HOTAS is quit heavy.
Nontheless keeping this "cheap" is my primary goal, this should be fun for the common commander so I plan to stay below then total cost of 400€ (Seat, HOTAS, Rudder, so with the seat going for 200€ and HOTAs + Rudder like 160€ there is not much left, other HOTAS Systems will surely bust the bill because a Warthog alone is almost 400€ without rudder...
Designing and adapter for High End HOTAS on the other Hand is not a big deal ( much simpler then the one for the T.Flight ) because these are meant for being mounted in the first place. So if this is adding tot he total number sold it,'s sure on the list of things to do next. Might even be worth doing befor I go on with the electronics for the Cockpit.
Already postponed my other projects for this even while these are in the making for some years already and also quit close to the end. ( have a look if you are a Star Wars Nerd
Doing a SimPit for PS4 is about really raising the bar of Sim Playing on Consoles since I believe there is quit a bunch of first generation Gamers around that, due to real world circumstances, can not afford the time & money that goes along with a high end PC but still want all the fun ( like me ).
Being able to have a fold away SimPit that allows serious gaming will allow to dive into Elite or such in then Family Living Room like your wife makes it a Gymn by onfolding her Hometrainer
So is it just me or is my perception right that there are a lot of "elderly" Space Flight Fans around here that face the same problem
