I actually prefer the first over the second myself, though the second is also one of my all time favorites. The third would've been a good film as well, if the writers and director hadn't killed off most of the survivors of the second film right at the beginning. Not only did it essentially negate the second film, but it also negated a bunch of very good published fiction featuring a grown up Newt.

It doesn’t, however as a case study it show us how a good story can be ruined by bad writers, just like GoT S8 was utterly demolished by incompetent writers (both of them) because there wasn’t anything to copy and paste from.

I'd argue it is, although I wish it would go away.
You could also argue that Aliens is not lore too, just an interpretation of Ridley Scott / Giger ideas. For example Alien reproduction- In Alien its much weirder but has a Queen in Aliens (and after the DH comics) only to revert back to goo / weird with Prometheus (Scott).

I thought it got a bad rap TBH.
Much better than AVP and no nonsense in it like "genetic memory".
Don't get me wrong it's not as good as 1 or 2 imo (both top notch films) but a good solid part of the franchise.
And on top of that a great cast imo..... Who (in England over 40) does not think of milk when watching the film?.

Indeed. Which as I've mentioned earlier is much better with the directors cut version. Even Fincher himself does a short intro on the movie explaining this and how the directors cut was what he wanted for the theater release.

No, I mean Resurrection being canon. That film wrecks the franchise for me. AVP is just a Dark Horse wet dream that also needs to die.

I have the quite the list of shame with alien. Bought 1,2 and 3 on VHS (don't think I bought 4)
The. Bought 1 and 2 on dvd
Then Bought alien predator total destruction dvd
then Bought the quadrilogy on blueray
Most of these went unwatched (instead watching reruns when on TV)
. I have watched 1 and 2 of quadrilogy and now have the urge to watch alien 3.
I have similar history of shame with predator ending up with the trilogy blu ray (still in shrink rap)
