How are you spending your time in DW2?

So, when I started this, I thought it would be all SRV and SLF races. Turns out that im not seeing as many CMDRs as I thought I would. At each WP I run into a few, but nothing seems to really be going on. Seems like the events I see listed on discord are at times im not on. I have really been enjoying taking the time to be a tourist though! I have always spent my time looking for things nobody has seen out in the distant black. Its been fun looking at all the suggested stops on this trip. So many wonders that I have never seen anything like.
How have you been spending your time? If you have been part of group events, how are you finding them?

I haven't seen any commanders at all (except very briefly in supercruise or local chat). :)

I'm at WP4 still, but am planning on catching up again this weekend and actually joining in with activities if I can (real life has mainly got in the way so far, but I've been keeping pace with the fleet).

I'm mostly using Fleetcomm Discord (especially the events-channel), the events threads here on the forum and our squadron chat to find or arrange group events.

And if there's nothing much going on that is planned by the organizers, just getting people together yourself has been surprisingly easy and fun so far. I had wing mining trips, canyon races, a wing exploration circuit trip all just arranged ad hoc with local and squadron chat.

And if you're willing to spend a bit more time and work to get people together, you can get pretty awesome events rolling. When WP2 didn't have any mass jumps planned, I (and later four people in a planning group) just started doing our own. We were 16 on the first jump, 27 on the second, and almost 60 last Sunday.

There's a lot of people out there each weekend looking for exciting things to do. If there's no event yet, just make one yourself, and they will come. [up]

Mostly I spend my time traveling to catch up with the fleet. From WP4 which I reached on Monday I went to the next waypoint and see all the POIs on the way. About half an hour ago I arrived at WP5 and the next days I'll see what's up and who's there. Maybe some more exploring.

I am doing a few hours at a time, wandering about in the general direction of the next waypoint but not planning to actually go there until Sunday.

DW1 taught me to either stay away from gatherings or deploy SRV in Solo then change to Fleetcomm, as show offs sometimes crash in to you :D
(or slam in to ground in front of you as per a video of DW1 !!!)
As my Phantom is carrying 4 SRVs I can do what I want(races/canyon jumps) until I only have 1 left :)

Exploring 100-1000 LY from the waypoints where very few tagged stars are found. And using Squadron Chat. Elite is far more enjoyable now that there's people to chat with. :)

There you can see the obvious limitations of the game. Despite all our efforts expeditions are very much experienced as small-scale events. Not much can be done about that, except have the better ISP, gametime hours and luck for better instancing.

DW1 was a washout on xbox, so by comparison DW2 is like NewYork city during rush hour

loads of CMDRs but i've mostly been out exploring so 90% of my time is spent twizzling knobs on the radio & waiting for triangles to go around, the social gatherings are alright but some people really cant fly ships so you have to be careful where you park

I normally take my time jumping from POI to POI, but i have come to realise that my 65ly jump range really is overkill. In fact half the time its a limitation as when i go and cash in i only get half as much as other people are reporting, now thats either because they are over exagerating or im just unlucky.

So to compensate every time i plot the next POI i go left, right, up or down 1kly then the direction of the POI and then to the POI like a square just to get a) off the beaten track and b) get myself more credits for the undiscovered systems.

TBH the pace is quite slow. im already docked at WP5 and it was only Wed evening when i got there. I still have thur to sun to wait for WP6 to be announced, so prob go over to colonia for some engineering. I feel i need my shields to be stronger.

Prior to DWE2 I had never been beyond 5k Ly from the bubble (I bet you can't guess where why I had only gone that far ...). After WP02 I thought I would start exploring towards some of the remote stations between the bubble and Colonia. Given the way the route has unfolded I kept finding myself near the next waypoint when it was announced until finally this weekend I was actually docked at Polo Habour when it was revealed as the next WP. So I have popped over to Colonia to check things out ... I will rendezvous back with the rest of the fleet when WP06 is announced. Given how things have gone it's possible I have already been through WP06 already [big grin]

remember WP5 is the closest we will be getting to Colonia so unless you have gone towards Sag A* from WP5 then you wont have been there yet.

That Asp video is the funniest moment of ED's history, and I'm chuckling to myself just thinking about it.
As to OP, I'm just out on my own, going my own way, and will meet up with others, or not, depending on where I am, as the waypoints seem to be a secret until a few days before.

I've been discovering the joys of sliding SRV's down Icy World mountain slopes. Its fun. Really fun. Had a blast mining my behind off for the first community goal, and really looking forward to the second one in the core.

These last two weeks I've mostly just been sitting at the basecamps, due to some time limitations. Hopefully I'll get back to "exploring the neighborhood" again soon.

I've been doing a LOT of neutron boosts. My fault for trying to combine a migration to Colonia with checking out the DW2 places of interest.

I've flown a Beluga and a Krait Phantom all the way from the Bubble to Colonia in instalments, and transferred 4 others including an AspX that has also flown all the way from Colonia back to the Bubble on ship-fetching runs. Plus numerous zigzags and backtracks to check out sections of DW2, and buzzing about unlocking 3 of the Colonia Engineers. I've probably covered getting on for 100,000ly already.

Looking forward to a more sedate pace for the rest of the trip!
