How Big is Yours?

Ahhhhhhnnnnnhhhh!

NO you pervs. Don't even think about whipping it out.

How big is your kill to death ratio?

Been playing ED now for a bit over 3 years. And in all that time I've never paid much attention to the system panel except to take a gander on occasion at the materials I'd collected but today I needed a break and looked at the status section. There's a lot of data in there. For example I always figured I made more money at Bounty Hunting than trading and I have but not as much more as I thought. And I've made a lot more money smuggling than I'd imagined and the biggest surprise was even though I hate mining and haven't spent a lot of time at it I've made way more than I thought. (and believe me when I say hate - that's a real understatement)

The stat I found the most interesting was the number of bounties and combat bonds collected divided by the insurance buy backs paid. My ratio is 55 so I die once for every 55 kills. Most of my deaths were probably in the 1st year as my number of deaths in Y2 went way down and in Y3 I may have died 5 or 10 times.

At first I thought that was a pretty good ratio but now I'm pretty sure compared to some of y'all, if not most, it probably SUX.

So what's your kill to death ratio?

Here's a good chance to brag.

I'd like to think I'm average ;)

15,385 : 53 or a 290 : 1 ratio

of the 53 deaths I can discount a few of those really:
~4 = Bugs
~8 = Buckyball racing
~10 = Lots of canyon flying and 780m/s imp courier

Therefore about 22/53 non-combat related and about 31 that were presumably combat related. Would come to about 500:1 in that case.

9070:58, or 156:1 here btw. But more importantly to me is total or average insurance. Average for me is a little shy over 1mil (1.006 mil). If I'd lost 58 corvettes I'd be more annoyed. :p More interestingly still is 'total assets vs total insurance claims', which is 28:1 for me.

Well DANG! My kill:death ratio truly DOES suck!

If the alternate universe theories of quantum mechanics are real I hope I'm not reincarnated into the ED universe!

Dont worry. If you'd grab a corvette and grind harmless sideys you'd get ∞:0. The ratio is an indicator of risk-taking, not skill. It is like when you go skiing. If you end the day proudly saying you didnt fall a single time it just means you didnt push yourself. Falling on your face is something to be applauded! :D

Too late![where is it]

My genuine ratio is hard to pin down since I don't take death very seriously (in game[blah]). I play open at the CGs often, hence I've been ganked more times than I can remember & I always finish a fight (combo of fun & determination to make at least one of the attacking wing return to the station for repairs). I never wake!

I'm a bit like Arsenal FC...I get beaten a lot, but it's always entertaining! 4-2 LOL

I also have my own rules in that I only fight better ships than my only fully engineered one - a Vulture - & pilots with at least Master rank. I'm also pretty reckless against NPCs in CZs/HazRESs, often starting a fight with a ship or wing when running out of ammo & then try to ram them to death - I do this in PvP too, in fact I rammed someone who's a regular on this forum to death in their mine spamming DBS...ring any bells?[big grin]

I'm going to bed now but I'll check when I get a chance - should be good for a laugh!

No idea on total numbers- I'll check it out in a minute when I flash the game up. From memory, less than a score of losses, many hundreds of NPC kills. But read the next paragraph! ;)

Since I've come back from an 8 or 9 month exploration trip I'm 3 deaths to nil. I was flying an unarmed, but heavily shielded and armoured, Type 10. Two ridiculously overgunned NPCs and one Thargoid surrounded by a swarm of missiles showed me the rebuy screen. I'm not sure whether carrying weapons and fighting back was a valid option. Both NPCs fired strange ordinance; I had warnings of runaway heat and energy cascades while my shields were still up, toxic chemicals showing in the right hand panel and my huge ship just melted when the shields went down. Is that normal now? Have new weapon effects been added, or do NPCs get engineered weapons?

I might dust down a cheap fighter and go farm a res to get my eye back in. Or just get better at the interdiction game... :D

I'm still loving my Type 10, by the way. I couldn't care less about him and me being crap in a fight, I didn't think I was buying a warship. :)

Non-modded default weapons now trigger appropriate warnings. This goes for PAs and rails, mostly.

Interesting metrics, can't help but compare so thought I'd share :D

I come in at total insurance costs of 145.5mil for 53 rebuys or 2.7mil/rebuy. Much higher than yours but I know that 8 Anacondas at 10.5mil apiece were lost in the cause of buckyballing.
Taking those out its a mere 61.5mil for 45 rebuys or 1.3mil/re-buy average. Still a bit higher but same ballpark. Lots and lots of cheap ships and then a few PvP disasters and the odd bug :)

Assets vs insurance claims is 3bil vs 145.5mil so ~20:1...

29,863 bounties / 62 claims = 481 to 1

But then again I do some stupid things in ships sometimes for videos.

total claims costs around 288 million... yikes

Same here. I've only been killed a dozen or so times by ships but about the same by stations and then some by just flying reckless in a small ship in VR. I have limped back to the station several times though, with a broken canopy. I am not a big risk taker.

How's this work again...

Bounties claimed 8482

Insurance claims 37

8482/37 = 229.24

Is that OK? Too much Spanish Grenache to care...

2389:39 or 61:1. Of my last 5 deaths though, 4 of them involved me crashing my clipper into something for a stupid reason outside of a combat situation. So I'm not sure what my true K/D ratio is.

Total insurance claims 43
Total Insurance claims 139,743,511Cr
Bounties claimed 16,220
Combat Bonds 7,454
Assassinations 192

So my bounties to kills ratio is 377.2, but I reached combat Elite more in CZs than bounty hunting. Adding the three kill stats together I get a ratio of 555 per claim.

Like others here, most of my rebuys came early in the game or from mucking about ;)
