You can't. Maybe give a link to these videos?
It's impossible. Maybe you talking about tagging a star or planet with your name after the first discovery or mapping?
Or maybe you saw someone adding a bookmark to a planet or star and then renaming that bookmark?
Naming of stars - I don't know if that ever was a possibility. Naming of planets or stations - that was given out as a kickstarter reward at the highest tiers, or is occasionally auctioned off at one of FDs charity auctions. These rights usually cost triple figures (in GBP).
How can I name the stars, and planets?
I've seen videos where people do it, It's suppose to be in the info section of the star/planet, should just click the name, and it should work like a text box, but it doesn't seem to be working for me.
FDEV sometimes allow for it as part of some special prizes or raffles.
I won it once at Lavecon
Keep your eyes peeled for Frontier charity streams, especially the annual 24 hour charity stream![]()
or are you referring to bookmarks?
I'm not sure if stars were ever possible, the video I saw was naming planets. Oh ok sigh, didn't know that was only through a KS tier or whatnot. That's ashame, but it is what it is, fair enough.
Perhaps you saw that video in a dream, as it's never been part of the game to name planets or stars![]()
I'd like to see that video too, because it would be a nicely done fake. There's no in-game way of naming bodies, stars or systems. Those lucky few who've won the right to pick such do so by sending their chosen names to Frontier, and if the devs okay it, then they are the ones who change them.
(Which makes sense, because without vetting, you know the galaxy would be full of places like FederalPenIsland.)
They weren't. FD (quite rightly) wouldn't go to the trouble of coding it in to the UI for the benefit of the comparatively tiny number of people who win prizes!would like to see that aswell, even the Kickstarters weren't able to text-edit it, afaik?!
