How do I find skimmer missions?

I hear great things but it seems like I can never find any.

Youtube, not being funny but if your after the get rich quick route lots of guides on there. Also lots of mission guides on legit styles off play, and no how you play is up to you no judgement here .:)

I might be wrong but I think they got hit with the nerf bat, but base missions are still fun to do.

Yeah don't listen to youtube. The best systems were an artifact of a Player Group's BGS expansions.
They were hurting our faction so we did a thing to stop them from being generated. (it took months). But about a week after we completed our BGS fix, Frontier stopped the "stack 20 missions" for skimmer scummers down to 3.
If you're looking to make money there's better ways now.

Dang. Sucks. Just tired of having to stop playing the game in order to grind, was hoping to just get the Cr issue handled. Well, back to trading for 3-4 million an hour I guess...

To make money, first you need reputation in the area you are in. If you keep moving around the galaxy looking for the perfect group of systems to give you the best missions, you'll still be doing that a year from now.

What you need to do is choose an area that you like, and get at least friendly with ALL of the factions in that area, just keep grinding and grinding data missions and planetary scan missions (still exploitable, as opposed to skimmers) until you have bags of rep, then outfit a dolphin for passengers and start taking the one way passenger missions that pay 1 to 2 million each when you are allied. Stack three to four if you can and you'll be doing 20-30 ly single jumps (engineer your fsd), making about 20m an hour. But you need to do the rep grind first to get them to give you the good missions.

Alternatively, find an empire or fed system at war with independents, and do it the old fashioned way, in conflict zones, still lots of money to be made there along with stacking 'destroy the ships of X faction missions', because completion awards stack, for example, if you take two 'destroy the ships of x faction' missions, one for 10 ships, one for 12 ships, as soon as you kill 10 ships, you'll get completion for the first mission, kill two more and you get completion for the 12, all kills count toward all active missions. These missions are also a way of getting allied with a minor faction in two hours flat.

If its cash you're after then Id highly recommend looking for a system with say a high tech econ, high population, a few factions in it, then get your rep up with them all, shouldn't take long. Then passenger missions.

I was making 10-20 mill a trip a while back with an Asp and a first class cabin, stay clear of the dont get scanned and the like missions also this now goes towards your Exploring rank, and not all of the cash rich missions are out of the bubble the ones you want are the multi stop ones, go here scan that, go there scan that etc. I dont really play the game for cash but wanted a 2nd python for mining, it diddnt take long :)

Hmm. Well maybe I'm just in too much of a hurry.

So I saved and saved and got myself a Python. Stacked with just cargo containers and a decent scoop (just in case) I cleared up just over 260 tons of space.

Went to eddb.io, found a cargo loop, and have been cranking out 1.2 mill every time I go 2 hops to one station and 2 hops back to the first station. Scans are pretty easy to evade as long as you remember to tap silent running when the time comes, and even the sluggish Python can evade interdictions consistently.

So I'm finding I'm only managing a few of these an hour, but... well I admit I'm probably playing at half-speed since I'm doing other things at the same time.

I like Aashenfox's idea of joining a faction and doing those combat missions though, if only because I'm curious about them, would be something fun and new, and maybe I'd finally start ranking up so I can start buying those slick-looking Imperial ships.

Skimmer missions are no longer in game. They were really enjoyable, I didn't use them to cheat but FD nerfed my fun all the same rather than fix the exploit.

I've seen some Goliath missions recently but that's a whole lot harder than skimmers. I think ordinary skimmer missions have gone , which is a pity. I used to enjoy looking for skimmers guarding POIs which often had some good stuff to salvage.

The Python is the best ship in the game for boom trade mission running, as it can land at outposts. While I can make more money trading in my Cutter, I find it far more enjoyable doing trade missions in the Python.

Another thing to watch out for to make money is for systems in Outbreak or Famine. You can make excellent money taking basic medicines to an Outbreak station (controlling faction needs to be in Outbreak), and also get a reasonable return on Fruit and Vegetables at a Famine station (buy for less than 200Cr, sell for over 3000).

Only missions ive seen are goliath ones and they are impossible to complete, ive had about 5 different ones and each time the goliath never spawned no matter how many times i re logged.

All i can suggest really is find an imperial slave trade route, it may not be the best money maker but it will be a solid one.
