How do I spot you commanders? What is the difference between an AI and a player?

Check the radar; players have hollow orange boxes or triangles, NPCs have solid markers.

Or, target a ship, if the pilot's name starts with CMDR, it's a player and you can use the comm system to say hi.

Busy systems for players that I've spotted are near LHS 3447, Sol, Lave, Eranin, and probably lots of other places.

Also worth mentioning. A triangle on the radar means hard points are out, weapons ready to fire, while a squard means all weapons stowed away.

and another tip: if you are targeted on a cmdr and hit return it brings up the text chat window to them, just type and hit return again to send what you've written
