How do you feel about Elite today?

7 8:
I haven't played since last summer, due to the orbit line issue. I still login to see if it's fixed after every patch though. I've also logged the following hours in ED:

PS4: 591
PC (Steam): 48
PC (Direct from Frontier): 702

With well over 1300 hours of gameplay, I feel that I've easily got my money's worth. Still, nothing else compares to how ED just fits for me. After that many hours getting used to using orbit lines for navigation, the game is basically unplayable for me now. I think a seven an eight is a good fit for how I feel at this time: Holding out hope, but not much Losing hope with every patch.

Edit 1: Orbit line issue: https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/46983
Edit 2: Clarification of 2 PC copies
Edit 3: Number change from 7 to 8 after testing patch 11. The orbit line issue is still there.

Honestly im in a sliding window between 4 and 8.

- I've proven to myself even reading white knight posts and hearing the anti player aggression coming out of the CM team literally reduced enjoyment of the elite dangerous software. Creating some real distance has allowed appreciation of what elite dangerous, just the software is, a always online sandbox space simulator. That's what starts it all for players, and still works it seems.

- Sadly it seems that it was an agreeable community and upstanding support of the game that took a strong simulator experience into the high positives. The game by itself only gets so far.

- Odd is odd. There are positives that are there to be genuinely enjoyed and appreciated, but the technical problems with the client and the lack of features floor you back to the same point every time you try it. The best you can do is probably the unspoken normal, you have to ignore odyssey gameplay content to be positive about odyssey.

Theres my free market research.

Until something changes, its just looping around satisfying and average. If you expect more from it, missing the expectations at so many levels is extreme and creates high negative responses. If they cared about their business not producing these scenarios with customers is something that should be done.

6 - haven't been playing in quite long while. But have been feeling indifferent for a long while as well.

Visually and presentation Elite is top notch, however there is just Not enough depth, emergent content, and sense of adventure like other sandboxes have.

Still lurking to see if anything changes. Will definitely be taking a look once the core gameplay elements have been fixed/improved (powerplay, risk and reward, c&p, npc's, general balancing, criminal gameplay to name a few) but given the track record on updates I'm not holding my breath.

In short: meh, not enough meat on the bones, will be back when there's more meat.

Im logging on just to get me back to my FC and finish off the exploration leader boards . So about an 8 , will move on but won't delete just yet having fun with space legs in another game 😜

Will jump to number 1 as soon as they implement the 'complex' missions they mentioned last year and...
THARGOID ON FOOT!

I'm still blown away by how good the station interiors are, they are a masterpiece and hats off to the artists. I like it that they added more people to them in this update, that has made it come alive.

Steam = PC
Good point, I've corrected my post accordingly.

I played for awhile via Steam, but my 8 year old Win7 PC needed all the resources I could muster. Having Steam running in the background seemed like a waste of resources, so I purchased a second PC copy directly from Frontier. The old PC is now retired, replaced with the latest AMD hardware (as of last summer). Unfortunately, that's also why I have the orbit line issue- RX 6900 XT.

Returned after 6 month hiatus.

EDO: 9
Gave up on EDO after patch 4 or 5. Waste of my time. Waiting for generally positive reviews from professional critics and regular forum users. Not there yet so.... EDO scores 9 for overall game quality in first couple months of release and inability to turn things around in almost a full year.

Horizons: 3
Upon returning from hiatus It would score a 1 because it is fantastic except psychologically I feel like I'm playing the old version of the game instead of last year's new release. I know its silly, but I don't feel good about playing a game a year after the new updated version has been released.

Reckon I'm a 3 (I'm still EDH only), with significant fluctuations. Very happy to see that progress is being made in a number of areas but frustrated by the number of bugs and QOL issues that remain untouched after literally years, some of which would be at the trivial level to fix.

Not really good today. I'm grinding combat rank because I absolutely love SLF but they literally eat half the rank I make, on an already grindy rank (it's quite unreal). Despite being trade 5 and explorer 1, I'm still sitting at master and can't unlock Ms Jameson. Since all the combat I ever made (except for that part in a sidewinder as a beginner) only counted for half of it.
I already know I'll never be elite in combat because of it, but I wanted to unlock her.

6 there are just more games and more games means less likey to select this old game...
The story is not dead in Elite but the slow rate at which it is dripping from the tap is to slow so there just more games and more games get played instead...
