How do you feel about the 2 weeks exclusivity period?

Indeed, last Alpha I did corrupted my Windows and made me reformat PC, can imagine how much loved that one and don't think anyone expects it to be an actual "game" yet. Cant wait to see the triple monitor fix though then I can see if what I have been dreaming about is actually reality :)

No the single player build is alpha 1.2 and the reason for giving premium beta people access is to let them get used to the single player before they get the full premium beta build. We also thought it would be a nice thing to do.

Michael

Nice?! I've just spent £1500 a month early because of it!

(THANKS!)

Who has a problem with the pre-version of the premium beta, given to alpha players, for two weeks ? In your opinion ?

I thought I read somewhere that gamma was £35 and the commercial release was £25 pre-order? I'm probably wrong (again) though.

Pre-order of the final game (includes gamma) is £35 Price of the retail version after the pre-orders is not yet known. I think it will be a little more expensive

:)

Nice mature debate from the first two replies.

Since new information has come to light that contradicts the old information we had then yes we do need an new thread as the old ones have been locked.

Why are you so against talking about this?
If you don't want to be part of the discussion then please just refrain from reading or commenting.

I personally think it's awesome but thanks for asking ;)

Following on from the recent announcement that the Alpha exclusivity period is two weeks rather than hopefully a few hours how do backers feel about this?

I now take everything FD say with a massive scoopful of salt.

I read their letters and just think, "pffft".

They change direction more times than, err...Failing to find a suitable metaphor here due to lateness and jetlag, but let's just say whatever they say this week is probably going to be very different next week!

As I stated in another thread, the whole antics lately were all about getting to a position where they could release some news to the stock market, which they did on the 10th, and that has stopped their share price plummeting and given them higher levels of support. So the management have been playing a news game, and really that's to be expected.

Of course if the game is good it's good and that's great for everyone.

So all the best of luck to them, but I've given up closely following the game now. ESO is out and that's an awesome game, seems some people are having issues but it's certainly scratching my itch. The ED single player demo shall be reclining in e:\downloads for quite sometime I think!

I hope everyone else enjoys Pre-Beta, it's certainly been a long wait for tangibles for the beta crew (myself included, I just have more interesting activities on the go now, so will probably skip premium beta).

Adios, a 12 hour sleep beckons...

OK, that's enough - go upstairs and tidy your room and don't come down till..

It's time for bed now, it'll be ok in the morning..

There's no end to this thread - let it go people - enjoy what makes you smile.

Yours, seriously wasting my time writing this.
[Removed by Michael, don't try and get round the profanity filter - Thanks!]

The two weeks refers to the period for the last alpha build, with the first premium beta build being on May 30th. From that point on builds will go to the alpha testers first to make sure there are no showstoppers, if there are then we fix them and produce a new build. How long that process takes is obviously unknown, if no problems are found then the build would get pushed to the premium beta testers fairly quickly.

Michael

I have a question, is the last alpha build some kind of 4.1 or 4.2 or is it the first release of 4.0?

The first release of Alpha 4 will be 4.0, if its patched subsequently then it will be 4.1 and so on until FD are happy to move on to Beta. The way the timings are suggests FD may pick up the fixes in the Alpha part of Beta or are confident it will be pretty robust.
