Hey, I'm pretty new to Elite, and I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I couldn't find any that weren't terribly old, so I figured I would just go ahead and ask anew.


I'm trying to make money commodity trading. I've got an Asp with 110 cargo space, and I've watched a few youtube guides and read a few threads (All nearly a year old or older) and they all suggested basically the same thing of using the galaxy map to find a large High Tech, Refinery or Extraction system, then using the trade routes to find a nearby one to trade with. The guides made it seem like this is a fairly standard process, but I've spent literally hours doing exactly this, and have yet to find a single trade route. I'm sitting in a Wealthy Huge high-tech system now, but there's nothing within any kind of reasonable space that sells any of the things that place needs.

The closest I ever came was one single route which made about 600,000/hour, but for the amount of time I had to spend looking for it, I could have made five times that just bounty hunting.

So what do I have to do to actually find a decent trade route around here?
