So, how do you play Elite, Frontier and FFE?

Are you a bloodthirsty pirate or a profiterring hard nosed trader? A out and out bounty hunter or a medal seeking military type?

Maybe give a description on your favourite way to spend your time in the Elite universe.

I've done all these professions in the past, firstly by playing nice and running errands for the military (both of them), doing taxi runs and honest trading, but I succumbed to hooliganism and became a bit disillusioned with the established power bases in the game, so officially I am now an explorer with an elite rating and shall we say a "colourful" criminal record. Do still have the odd lapse now and then! :D

Stuck with my trusty Sidewinder after owning every ship in the game. A modest little craft to be sure, but it has served me well in many scrapes over the years. If the game could show it, you would see it's hull criss crossed with numerous repairs and it's odometer logging 1000s of hours of flight time. ;)

I think I'm the same as Geraldine as well, start off nice and honest then go a bit loopy after I've upgraded a few times.

The thing is, if there is to be a new Elite game, would we all do the same things all over again or stick (as veterans of the older games) to what we do now? In an online environment I feel older players will stick out against the young and fresh players to the series in what we do and how we go about it, just a random thought there folks! :D

Give it time Kenny, only 2 more needed for a kick-a-about! :D
Anyways, how are you getting on with your animation for the SSC? If you don't mind me asking?

I never played a Elite game. But I would go for this Salvager boarding and capturing gameplay. Don't know if that exsist in a Elite game.

Geraldine, I did a couple more parts of it, but I've been on holiday the past couple of weeks. I rendered a part where about a dozen or more spacecraft of various sizes fly past the Apollo, and I wanted one of them to be the classic BSG Viper in full turbo mode. I added all the particle effects and it looks fine, but it took more than a day to render because of that.

In original Elite I play mainly as a bounty hunter, but in frontier, I find that my main occupation is some kind of 'space tourist' which is paid for by trade runs-

I love experimenting with the orbital mechanics, landing rough on small moons and putting time acceleration on max to see planets rising in real time - no other game, new or old simulates this in any way. Its freakin' awesome in the old world use of the word.

Also -finding different stellar types like brown dwarfs, or the companion star in the sirius system, which if I recall correctly, had a debris ring around it in FE2.

It satisfies the astronomy geek inside me, in a way that no other game does.

Did you know GLJones, that you can take a wild ride on the accretion disk around the Sirius dwarf star? It's very tricky to do, if if you get the orbital insertion just right you will orbit the star in real time as if you had the stardreamer set to max. Getting back out again is also fraught with danger, so it's best just to hyperspace away.

i voted for a military career
i guess this gives me the biggest thrill in the game
like thurwitt i like bust the bases or even better, do some reconaissance missions.
i like the sky full of ships to blast afterwards, you could leave to hyperspace yes, but that's not funny. i allways liked to be surprised by the "secret weapons" some bases have, like the raising gravity or when the enemy ships start to jump around wild and you can't find a real target.

but i don't mind for whom i work, any colour (flag) is as good as the other, even when my most played savegame is a imperial career.

smuggling goods is (was) essential to me, i haven't those good guides you can have by now, when i started to play frontier back then.
still you find me collecting nerve gas sometimes, until i find a good place to sell it. usually i cheat the cops with a gamesave right on beginning of docking sequence, you can try then different "time accelerations" to evade beeing checked, that works mostly if you don't overexceed it.

also i have allways some minig machines in far out systems to collect some ore there, just to have something different to play when i'm bored from busting bases, or hunting some "bad guys" down.

since i'm not shure what im up to next, i like to have a very convertible ship, not to big and not to small, usually a asp or a constrictor

taxi runs i do mostly at the beginning of a career only to get all the permissions you can have, then i'm off.
