How do YOU regain your ED mojo?

I want to play the new Zelda so bad, I just don't want to buy a new system to play it....so tempting though. That game is just so beautiful.

Aye could've dropped 300 notes on a switch but yeah nah, maybe later. Bought the wii u version instead ;)

When I'm taking a break from Elite, it means free evenings.
Free evenings mean lots of alcohol and watching my SO playing Elite.
Being drunk and watching my SO playing Elite makes me want to play Elite.
Playing Elite drunk costs lots of money.
Losing lots of money means I have lots to do in the game once again.

POETRY. Pure and simple.
+1, natch

Still do have times where I couldn't be bothered with anything. I've never been one to grind at anything in this game, play it at my own pace and don't try to compare myself with other players. Sometimes i switch it on , stare blankly at the screen then switch off again. It's more a reflection of RL than the game.

The DRX group banter helps a lot in getting me back, as a father Ted episode said of the Chinese; they're a great bunch of lads!

I'm currently in a stint like that right now. It's all I can do to open Elite, then I just stare at my ship in the dock for about 30 seconds before switching to something else equally as boring. (to me right now) XD I've been playing a small collection of the same games for years. I really don't have any interest at all in any of them anymore, and the depression's not helping. I spend most of my time on Youtube, now. I have soooo much to do in Elite, too... Like what, two months ago? I joined Aisling to get prismatic shields for my Annie, but I have yet to get a single merit, because I don't have the will to play, let alone grind. [haha] I have a huge laundry list o' stuff to do. At least I got unlocking Ram Tah out of the way while I still had the energy. The Ghost Recon open beta was fun, for about 2 days. (It took 4 days to download.) XD I just don't have the energy or will lately to play anything, it seems. Need something fresh to play. Need a new Elder Scrolls or Mass Effect-like game to play. They don't make thoes types of games free, though, so I won't be playing anything new on that front till years after they come out, if they ever do. 2.3 will get me playing for a good bit, just for that camera-suite alone. That's something I've wanted for quite some time in Elite. Once we get the ability to leave our ships on foot, and go to atmospheric planets, then Elite will be the be all end all for me. Why play GTA on a tiny map when you have full 1:1 scale planets to explore? That'll be the day! Only a few more years... In the meantine, I guess, uh, back to Minecraft? [haha]

I suppose I didn't really answer your question. :D I uh... Well, to get my mojo back, I guess I just wait for it to come back, or wait for an update that piques my interest. (Like Horizons first did, that kept me going for a good while.)

Although, now that I think about it, they'll probably abandon the XB1 by then and move onto the Scorpio, so I probably won't get to play on atmospheric planets or walk around.

Edit: Speaking of mojo, sometime silly things bring it back, like Gary Richards liking one of my posts.

Lol.. :D

I think it was the Division indeed..

Not to derail the topic but I've reshuffled The Division into my playlist after dumping it hard last year. Some good changes to endgame there.

You have been diagnosed with: want-the-new-2.3-update-'ittis.

...I went back to my roots as a small ship bounty hunter and rediscovered why I fell in love with this game in the first place.

I have the itis something fierce.

And I did something similar about it. I switched up roles for a ton of my small ships to break the rut. I got ever so slightly involved in Power Play again, mostly for new weapons, but also because I hadn't done it in a long time. I bought an ASP Explorer again, and made a pretty effective, high damage hull tank out of it with thermal augmented reactive armor, full HRPs, overload Packhounds, super-P rails and thermal vent beam lasers. I pulled my Clipper, a ship I once loved but haven't had a use for in ages, out of mothballs and fitted it out as a deep space transport and explorer, and we're on our way to Colonia for the first time.

I think the trick is not to ask "what am I good at doing right now", but "what does the galaxy offer that I don't do enough?". There's a lot out there.

I have a space tourist build on my Clipper and I love it, it's my only true passenger ship since I don't own the Orca or the Beluga yet.

That AspX build sounds interesting, might have to trying something similar some time. I really need thermal vent beam lasers on my Cobra MK III. It's a powerful little ship but it can overheat fast if you're not mindful about how much you are using your beams.

Two small TVBLs make all that other hot stuff feel like a Disney movie about the Jamaican bobsled team. Go gimballed so you're not fighting the countereffect (extra heat while missing).

Hilariously it still gets a near-30 ly jump under all that combat loadout.

As part of this new paradigm, I turned my Corvette into a miner right before I sold it outright.

I role play a special agent which means I can do anything I want .
Today I've been an assassin, miner, mercenary and bounty hunter for a certain client but tomorrow I may have to take that same client down..
This way I never lose my mojo.

I've just had two weeks off from XBOX completely so I have returned full of fire...

That said, limiting your game time helps - especially switching it off at a set time whether you have achieved a daily goal or not. It makes you yearn for the game more if you have unfinished business.
Little and often is my way ahead.. oh, and making our little player group the biggest and best exploration group on Xbox, then every platform...... DRX for the win.

Yeah, that's it! Let's bring it on home!
Viva la banter!

I wish I could help you but I am in the same boat. I had been playing since the very first beta years ago but lost interest about 6 weeks ago. Finding it very difficult to get back into it.
Engineers kind of ruined it for me. There was too much reliance on having to track things using external Data which does not work for me in VR.

I just really hated the way that applying Engineers mods simply does not give me the factual information I require. I dont get it when I am in Outfitting and Trying to work out which weapon to fit, I get the metrics on the weapon, heat Damage, DPS, etc and can see the fact it has on my jump range, etc., I can toggle between them to see the crucial data. With engineers mods It should do the same thing so I can see in real terms what the effect is, not have to friggen spend hours out of the game trying to find out what affect it will have.

Secondly I hate the fact that when I am out and about I cant simply call up the engineers panels to see whats needed for things I need, and what to keep when things are full.

All this relying on information outside a game kinda urks me.

And of caourse without engineering you are not competitive. So things all simply go to laborious for me and I quit.

I love how double-edged your post is! 'Wah, VR means that it's a pain looking stuff up' LOL - you have frickin' VR, CMDR. I'm an Xbone peon. So, no BR for me, BUT using EDDB, INARA et al, is just a glance to my left to my laptop! :D
Still, I do share your general lamentations about the RNGineers. I'm not sure there's anyone who's utterly satisfied with their implementation. :(

The RNGineers are in the same boat as PowerPlay.
A fantastic idea, poorley implemented.

I've had some moderate success with the engineers since the removal of commodity required upgrades, but some of the grind involved is still too much.
I spent 2 days earning 100 combat bonds, then a separate 1mil worth to unlock Juri Ishmaak.
A fair requirement imo. It takes time and effort, but not so much as to make it a grind.
From Ishmaak I unlocked Briss Dekker, who requires 10mil combat bonds... (!!!)

It's a good job I don't need her FSD Interdictor upgrades, because in all honesty, she can sniff it. [haha]

After doing intensive Cutter trading I'm pretty tapped out on Elite now. Could say I'm at the point where I've lost my mojo. Temporarily.

I really wanna HazRes in a wing but no one I like is around me.

Sorry, I did not mean to "Double Edge" you. I don't want the game to be arcady as a matter of fact I wish some things required more skill, but sometimes it is so annoying to have refer to other sauces for things that should simply be there in the game. My Life is too stressful at the moment and I just find this painful rather than fun.,

Long time lurker... First time poster. I've been playing this little gem for a little over a year this month. I took one long (about a month and a half) break. DCOU became an addiction during that time. Still kind of is😇. But this game keeps me coming back. Currently, because of RL issues I'm only able to get on a couple of times a week for a couple of hours a day. That kind of helps with the grind in a way. But back to the story. After a week of not playing I decided to take my beloved viper mk IV out on some bounty hunting runs and got bored real quick.... Not to mention quite drunk. 😅 So I picked a direction and a star around 50 or so LY away and took off with a little fuel scoop and ran with it. Before I knew it I was quit a bit more intoxicated and running out of play time. Just to see how far I went blew my mind. Looked the galaxy map and realised I was over 250 LY OUTSIDE the bubble! Now some of you might say "meh, only 250?" But for me that's the farthest I've been out yet 😶. I can't wait to get back in game in a few days to see how much further I can push that envelope in that viper.😎

Long winded but hey that's just me lol
