Are we sure those 1 crew ships will not be able to experience multi-crew? Perhaps seating outside of the cockpit? Those ships are all large enough in scale.
It's my understanding that it is measured on the number of seats in the cockpit. This info is based around the idea that when the ships where conceived, they worked out how many crew the ship would allow and then modelled the cockpits with that in mind. *However* they are introducing a 3rd person camera view which I guess could be used from a seat in the bowels of the ship so long as the 3rd person view has the entire HUD like 1st person does. Sounds a bit s**t though.
just to be 100% sure. We are included in the amount of crewmembers, aren't we? I mean we are talking about 1 NPC + 2 Players + ourself in a "3 crew member ship"?
Yup. Of course the +1 NPC is only for the ships that are SLF capable.
Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the Anaconda have a forth seat under the nose of the ship on that observation deck? Multicrew was originally said to be able to gain four crew so I figured that was counting that seat on the Anaconda. If I'm right the Anaconda's the only ship with four. It's location on the ship shouldn't be an issue at all if they can do the same with the two Asps and the T9
Interesting, I hadnt looked too closely at its nose to notice a seat there. I echo what has been said above though, there is almost nothing for the 3rd person to do. I don't believe Multi-crew will get a whole lot of development after it's release. FD tend to allot a certain amount of budget to a feature and then leave it alone after its release because after that they have the next thing to work on.
So, just to confirm... these aren't official stats, we're just counting potential crew slots by counting chairs in the cockpit/bridge/other glassed areas?
Yeah, this is officially 100% unofficial. But unless there is a seat for them in the cockpit I don't see how it would work.
I've detected an anomaly. The Keelback, surely, has at least one crew slot, because it can already carry an NPC crewmember for the SLF. S/he has got to be sitting on your ship somewhere. It would be odd if a ship could carry an NPC crew but not a CMDR.
NPC crew sit in the SLF hanger. AI crew are being kept seperate from multi crew. Perhaps after they know it works they will add the AI Multi-crew members.
If this list is accurate, why did FD always said that multicrew would allow 4 members/roles? There is no ship with four positions!
When they originally talked about it, there was also more for them to do.. I guess the scope changed.
I think the type 7 does what's expected of it in its price range. Does a bit of hauling or mining and tries to avoid combat if possible. Now you can actually escape from combat given the extra hull I think it's a great ship. Could it be better with a gunner slot? Sure and hopefully it gets one, so it sits between the type 6 and type 9 in a combat balance sense, but the ship isn't useless.
Fair enough. I agree it is cheap for the amount of cargo space it offers.
