How many of you don't play anymore?

I still play, but not very often anymore. It has started to bother me too much that interesting weapons like Mines and Missiles are pretty much useless. Better balancing is needed to make combat more interesting.

Be carefull when straffing the vulture. I lost my first by straffing in an asteroid not even that fast with full shields. Hull integrity compromised, ok, Eject! What the f!! It was a good instance for Bountiy hunting with lots of Python and Anacondas. Just took down 2 condas at 160k each. I might have lost 3 millions in bounties (EXTREMELY stupid we loose this). having no ammo weapons helps lasting longer. I couldn't wait to buy better Lasers but I only manage to do 400k the rest of the evening I lost that. now I'm not going to play for a while.
They could also fix the amount of credits for missions. They give less than killing an eagle.

You could avoid this problem by keeping an eye on the asteroid icons in your scanner, and cashing in bounties every million to reduce the risk as theres usually a station close to RES sites.

supercruising is too boring. I always tab out to desktop. only to forget that elite is running ad tabbing back in after hours.. sometimes dead sometimes not even really caring either way. Supercruise killed the game for me. I have no idea how to do it better, but srsly supercruise aint the right way. its just boring and tedious. the only interruptions are by NPC or players that want to hijack you.. thats like 100% kickstart from ultraboring to ultra life threadening.. theres no slope.. its just not happening...

and I have only one TV so I cant watch while flying, I must tab....

Played a few times after 1.1, then stopped and waited for 1.2, played a few times and stopped, now waiting for 1.3. Once some good content is in, then i hope to be able to want to play more.

Not played the game for about a month now, several reasons; I don't have the kind of time to spare that E: D really deserves, whilst I appreciate you can pick it up and play very quickly, most of the benefits and 'fun' in the game come from longer periods of build-up. Having traded rares and completed a few circuits of the rare trade routes, done around a 15k LY exploration circle, upgraded to a fairly decent ASP, and dabbled in Combat and Mining, I find that picking up the game for a few hours to edge a little closer to either a bigger ship or more money, is a little repetitive. If the rewards for getting to Elite in any of the three main disciplines were more significant than a modest discount, I might be encouraged top do so. But I find as I have less time to play, I really want a quicker sense of gratification, and more immediate fun.

I do appreciate many, many commanders take pleasure in the slow, steady progress towards a goal; I did, but now there isn't anything else at the moment to keep me playing. I do love simulations, and have been playing Cities: Skylines and FSX: SE recently, and I would like to get back to Elite at some point, and I will, but I just want more immersive objectives than I find the game currently contains. I like to play multiplayer for the interaction, however the wings update, whilst good for a large numbers of players who wanted to form groups, for me has driven me only into solo space as I can't risk coming face to face with a combat group who will destroy in seconds a ship I have played many hours to get to. Yes, I could run, and probably would, but its not a risk I want to take, especially as the respawn is inherently costly. Too many risks and I might be right back in a sidewinder, which would seriously devalue the effort put into the game so far.

I keep checking back from time to time - and I will hope that the next update is worth the wait for solo players who want a bit more immediate strategy than perhaps the game currently offers, but I don't know if Frontier considers players like myself being worth developing for, I do recognise the commercial pressures that they are under. Also, having paid for the lifetime expansion pass, I am wondering when the first paid-for DLC will come along? I think Frontier have been remarkably generous in continuing to develop the core game at no extra cost, but I am hopeful at some point the extra investment I have chosen will pay dividends.

Only time will tell. Hopefully, see you out there again at some point Commanders!

Haven't played properly for a couple of months. I log in with the intention of having a really good ED session but almost as quickly as i'm logged in i find myself logging out. I certainly haven't given up the game and its potential is enormous. Every little update will probably get it nearer to what I hoped for in an Elite multiplayer game. The separation of game modes really is a massive thing for me. Solo, group, open should all be segregated, not able to switch between the modes at will, it really is quite ridiculous. I hope for improvements to the background sim, improvements to the mission system, i'm sure they'll all come eventually. Until then, i'll keep an eye on the forums, an eye on the game and will jump in occasionally until the time comes that I want to play a lot again.

This game desperately needs some excitement. It needs epic fleet battles with massive capital ships. It needs engrossing arching story quests with interesting NPCs you can actually diologue with. This takes place in an epic Sci fi future with the technology to span the stars why are we reduced to truck simulator missions and random battles against brainless NPCs? This is a great engine with great physics. It is the only game I have ever played where I truly feel like I am commanding a space ship and every time I play it I feel frustrated that there is nothing fun to do. Elite Dangerous is currently a great space simulator alla Flight Simulator X but is not a game. They need someone in their studio that knows how to make a game with a good story and epic moments.

Actually i stopped playing too. Not because of course i don't like the game anymore, but i expect much of it and what i have right now is not enough.
I have been playing since january, and done many things i wanted to do, not all my list of things but the major part. I don't really like trading, i am a bounty hunter type/explorer type of CMDR and after 4 months of playing it's kind of boring.

1.2 give us wings but i'm a solo kind of guy so it's not THAT useful to me. When we will have NPC wings then the game will take another dimension.
Apart of that, i am really waiting for 1.3. That's the kind of update that can bring me back to life, with a real purpose : now we know why we are buying ships, a real goal behind our hunting and trading works AND READING GALNET, etc... Dats what was missing in the game IMO: the immersive part.

Actually i am planning to just hit the forum to have some news on the development, and, if i have time, to just work on my fighting and flying skills in the game before the launch of 1.3, reset, and make a new start in the game to enjoy the game more after the powerplay release.
It's a good game but if it's a sandbox game actually we are waiting for the sand. hope 1.3 will be what we are all looking for.

So fly safe cmdrs. See u in the void

i play a lot everyday. Can´t get enought of it maybe cause i don't grind or rush anything

my best regards, CMDRs

I think I burnt out initially But now I play less and for different reasons it's better.

Early on was playing to get money for x.
then you get x and get money for y.
I got y then realised how big it all was and the size of the jump to z which put me off a bit.

Now I've realised it's not about z as the destination. I have to have a lot of fun along the way

Just met my first PvP'er and damn near uninstalled the game just after he me. He was flying backwards faster than I could fly forwards, so I had no chance to reach his blind spot. No AI ship flies like that so I had no experience of how to counter his flight style.
Oh well SOLO only from now on, if at all!

I missed out on Alpha.. but i was in game day one of Premium Beta. since that day i have probably logged 1000 hours or more. i may miss a day here and there, but i continue on, doing whatever it is that i happen to currently enjoy. at this point in time its exploring, and i have over 1000 systems visited, logged and scanned, of which about 1/2 of them are first visits by me. one day in the next month i'll probably limp back into civilized space and sell off the data i have collected. then i'll be off on the next thing i wanna do.. whether that be more trade runs... bounty hunting.. another exploration run ,or even Mining once FD works out proper mechanics for it.

Really hoping to get more active at the end of this month, for some more or less obvious reasons. Currently spreading the activities across several games, the best way to not excel in any of them! ;)

This is the silliest post I've ever read on this forum.

"Someone did something the AI rarely does and I couldn't learn from it so I'm done!"

err, fly backwards too, then jump to supercruise?

Yeah, best way to counter your enemy reversing is to just back away and disengage.

Lets Necro this thread :)
If you dont play, leave forums and dont post on forums.
We dont want to know and dont care, you are giving nothing to the game.
bye- bye

Cheers Cmdrs
