How many of you don't play anymore?

I take your point absolutely.

I'm not sure it's a 'mess' though. It's a work in progress. Most people understood that from backing stage.

I agree totally it needs substance- and I believe that Frontier have a fantastic foundation to build upon.
I also believe they will.

I wasn't here from the backing stage, I bought a game I was told was released. I bought it based on the adverts, reviews and list of gameplay features. Lot's of Oculus players said that it was a worthwhile purchase for Oculus. Other than the beauty and combat there really is nothing else going for the game right now. I wouldn't call this release ready at all which is why my fingers are crossed they plan on adding more things.

This game would have the same appeal to me if it was 10 different space maps with space combat, because while its cool to travel through the 400 billion system galaxy, there is so little substance or progression in the game besides a rank that adds nothing to gameplay. There is nothing to really gain from going out that far, and imagining there is something there is doing the developers work for them. That's just lunacy, I'm not 12 and don't want to play pretend, I want to play a game. (Why people use imagination as an argument God only knows... perhaps they lack the imagination to think of a better argument...)

It is a shame because I don't think anybody can lie that the premise is awesome and the game is gorgeous, I plan on waiting until 1.3 is out and hopefully they will be talking about building on the current list of features. Elsewise I will probably be selling the game around that time.

Sad to say but I am down to playing a couple of hours a week now. After being a fan from release of the original Elite, then the sequels. Then on to Oolite. Once beta came out, I was playing 8-10 hours a day. But the repetition and lack of content just got to me. I still believe it can be made great, it's just not there yet. I have hope. So I'm not giving up yet. I'm just waiting for something to happen to bring back the feeling of anxiousness to play again. My HOTAS and monster gaming system are waiting. Sigh. Yes it's a huge detailed world. Graphics are nice. I now wait for FD to fill in the blanks. :)

I bought the game in December, and although i love the game i must say, i think it was released to early with not enough content, however with the updates, quick patches and news letters i know its heading in the right direction. i did play Elite way back so nostalgia keeps me playing as well i admit.

Yup with expensive DLC.

If meaningful gameplay only comes with paid dlc, I'm out now. They already got $60 out of me for what's here, no more until there's a legitimate reason to kill that pirate, player, or trader - to move that pallidium from station a to b - that exploring might lead to human expansion or run ins with alien races.

I think I'm about to pick up Prison Architect (no, seriously) because it's a cheap little game that has loads more content in it. I know this sounds like a joke, but it's really not.

The sad part is that after you reach you goal of a Cobra Mk3, you still have the problem of having nothing to do with it.

I was exited for X rebirth but it launched is such terrible shape that I passed on it. Have they fix it yet?

Yes. They have. The latest iteration is not only playable but even good... You can rob stations, for instance, exploration is pretty cool, and rewarding, trade is brilliant, especially with the manager mechanic.... Battle is ok I guess, but I always try not to kill desperately...

Word of caution however: I am fully capable to play "boring" games buy other standards, but ED is beyond boring.

Have rarely played the last couple of months, I have mostly been trading and doing missions, but have lost interest now, waiting for new content like planet landing and walking around ships and stations. Wings doesn't interest me as I mainly play solo. I used to play all the time since premium beta. But now its too much of a grind.

I read the forums most days, and I look down at my HOTAS but rarely pick it up to play anymore. I was wondering who else is feeling a little let down and sad by what we have so far? I still have high hopes for the game and think that they will make it much better this year.

To all you that are feeling like I do, stay hopeful. There is still time but the clock is ticking

i dont play often too. getting bored is normal.

I play whenever I can, usually in 5-6 hour sessions every other day

Ive flown pretty much every ship at some point, and been in every profession
Started as an explorer, the bounty hunter and now a trader, getting together a group of CMDR mercenaries from people I meet in game and we are planning to escort some CMDRs wherever protection is needed

So far we have myself (python) another guy currently trading to get a cobra or asp and a third guy In a python

I explore, fight, trade

I sometimes play for 8-12 hour sessions when I can

Not gonna stop for a long while, if I get board I just find something new to do in game

what helps me alot in staying in the game is enjoying my current ship and role playing, of course i take the 10 extra seconds to dock like a real pilot would dock a harrier on a carrier. and i make the wuuush sound. :p

i also role play. take the extra 30 seconds to role play, act like the docks are loading cargo via slaves or whatever, then i imagine that when i refuel, that a mechanical arm comes to the side and pumps fuel (10 more seconds right there). makes it fun and interesting. using imagination until the implement walking around the docks... enjoying what i have now [Type 7] (not focusing on the next ship as much) and acting like a job and a honest living. rather than...

$98 million more to go o_O!!!!!!

that will be 156 trips with this route that has 3 jumps one way.... that will be.....

-40sec per jump x3
-1:20 time to dock
-1:20 time to undock
-2:20 time from star to station ~500km
-3:10 time from star to station ~2000km

-7:45 from tinklesprout 219 to doggybarky 867
-6:39 back

approx.......41.5 hours of tryhard mode grinding!!
(these are all real calculations of mine)

i just spend the extra minute or two role playing to make it fun...
whats 1-2 minutes compared to 14?
esp when you're trying to play a game to have fun... so have fun!! :]

Rep for being so darn cheerful.

Can't imagine you being disappointed, awesome little game. But I don't think it is a good alternative space sim :p

yeah, it doesnt feels the same as elite: frontier for example. no ability to visit planets with generated contents, no stiffy 16-bit music :p

When I got this game I knew I was getting a half-done spaceship simulator and I was hoping that the instancing, the missions and the rewards were somewhat balanced and that they would continue to make them better; but the fact is that the NPCs just magically spawn when you enter an area, they just fly around without purpose and you can literally blow them up by the thousands. No station cares at all when you blockade all the traders that go in or out of there (besides some insignificant percentage of influence changes when there should be riots in the stations), no economy notices when you kill all pirates (because pirates keep spawning like the pedestrians in GTA, and "thank god" because they pay pennies for killing them and you need a lot for any upgrade), and nobody cares (in the background simulation) if you decide to kill all cops in sight because they keep spawning like in GTA.

I hoped by now the game would have sufficient stuff in it to do to distract me from it's faults, like things to aspire to, other than a "+1" in my rank stats that doesn't make a difference, because there appears to be not enough background sim for any NPCs or groups to care about it.

I read during beta or gamma someone say "I can use my imagination for free, for this game I payed", so yeah, I'll keep lurking around here reading the updates in case there are plans to make all aspects of the game equally fulfilling in real life (giving me fun) and also fulfilling in game (giving my character a meaningful progression) doing something I like, not having to sacrifice fun to get somewhere ingame. In the meantime I'll be going into the game to fly around a little when I feel like it and using my imagination when I'm not in the game since I don't need a 50€ game to switch ON my imagination.
