How many of you don't play anymore?

I love these threads: I have opinion <whatever> and will post a thread with <whatever> as a title and see who else joins. Give it a rest - if you don't want to play anymore I'm sorry the game didn't work out for you.

I love these posts;

Don't like the thread title;
Don't like the thread topic;
Don't like the thread content;

Must post how I don't like the thread despite no one forcing me to read it.

How about, if you have nothing to add..... then move on without posting.

I wish people would stop posting in threads they find boring. Just don't post. I hope everyone interested in this thread ignores the inflamatory spam posts. Just ignore them. They're only trying to derail the thread.

So, yeah, I don't play. Haven't played for a while. Holding my breath for a bug free, content complete version. Here's hoping. :)

Why did you have to type faster then I do :p

Well put, lets get back on topic.

I've gone to play something else too. I haven't fired up ED weeks ago.
I may take a look at 1.2 at some point when it's out but overall I don't think my enthusiasm will return without having a really persistent universe where it's clear if we play solo or multi and when my gameplay takes a meaningful effect.
I enjoyed ED as a tech demo, now waiting for the game.

ED is a game I've played more than any other - ever (specifically in my 40+ years of existence)! I played since the beginning of premium beta early '14, and only recently hit the proverbial pause button for about a month or so, gradually winding down over several weeks. The event that made me quit altogether was the 1.1 patch and the related sound issues, many of which have now been fixed. I downloaded/bought a couple of other games during my break from ED, but ultimately found myself peeking over my shoulder at ED. The pending update (1.2) reignited my interest, and I downloaded both beta yesterday and started playing in 1.1 again.

I do love this game - it's like no other. But I do look forward to content updates as I spend 99% of my time bounty hunting, and that gets a bit tiring after a while. Trading hasn't clicked, neither has mining or exploring. So I play primarily for the pew pew, but am looking forward to playing with the new ships, the Wings update in general, and seeing the game evolve. Onwards and upwards!

i used to play every day, but with ships costing waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much and superior games that are out now. i've dial back to maybe once a week for ten mins only to realize how lacking the game content is and then log out.

Sorry frontier but your game just isn't fun anymore. atleast korean mmo grindfests actually have content and aren't buggy to all hell

i play every day. i admit, if i hadn't joined AEDC, i wouldn't play as much every day, or even at all some days during the work week, maybe. but i'm slowly building a bankroll for better days, while helping with the AEDC agenda.

I only manage to get in 1 session at the weekend and try and limit that to 3-4 hours (work, kids, yadda yadda)

Still really enjoying playing as I've still got so many goals to reach and, at the rate I play, FDEV are releasing updates and content way faster than I can experience it.

I can see why a game with no 'end' will feel like it fritters out.

Or to say another way, I've played through the recent wolfenstein three times. It's not a long game, yet completing it three times feels plenty enough.

Those three times took way less time than I've already spent on elite, but because there is no end to Elite, wolfenstein feels more rewarding, in that sugar-hit kind of way.

But Elite keeps pulling me back, despite weeks rests taken. Oh and 1.2 is a hoot!

I liked this part of the newsletter.

"The foundations for our upcoming Xbox One version of Elite: Dangerous have been in from the earliest days of the project, with Xbox controller support in some of the earliest builds, and the entire game built on our homegrown Cobra engine. "

Kinda contradicts what Michael was saying in the Xbox thread, about the game not being built with consoles in mind.

Portability is an inevitable side-effect of using Cobra; it doesn't mean that the devs had a specific target platform in mind. As for the controller, I think it means nothing more than that the xbox controller was there as a preset in the controller config.

On Topic: I've been in since Alpha and still playing almost every day, doing things I enjoy and not grinding for ships (I have a Cobra and a Viper). Even if I stopped tomorrow I'd still have had great value. Then again I've had the "Elite itch" for 30 years so am absolutely the core audience for this, obviously that doesn't apply to all or even most of the player base.

I sincerely hope that someone at FD goes through these threads and takes note of legitimate criticism. Retention of the player base should be pretty damn high in the list of priorities of a company releasing paid expansions, so it would probably be very helpful to FD to work out why people are leaving.

Out of my five friends and I that have the game, I'm the only semi-regular player. A couple played for three or four weeks, got bored, stepped away for awhile until there were gameplay improvements and have uninstalled it. Others have a bit of a play after patches to see what improvements have been made, but then don't play until the next patch.

I can't recommend the game to people in it's current state. Beyond the 1.2 update, I don't really have too much hope for more content. There's no real communication of what is coming beyond the next patch, and what's in the next patch isn't enough to give people hope that content is coming. It's nice that there are new ships. It's nice that instancing is now working a bit better - as it should have at release. This stuff is all good. But it's not enough. I don't need to rehash all the barely-there features that need at least some revision. What I do need is some kind of communication that there is a clear plan to add to the game. Tell us what you're working on adding in a patch six patches from now, FD. People are far more likely to stick around if you give them even the slightest reason to hope for a better experience in the future. And if there's not going to be anything added or changed in such a way that provides deeper gaming experience (NPC traders who aren't there just for decoration would be a nice start), tell us. Put us out of our misery and let us move on to something else.

I played nonstop when the game first came out. So much so that I all I could think about was getting off work so I could rush home and fire up the game. But lately? No, I have no inclination to login at all. I have no regrets buying the game as it's a thrill to see the space sim genre making a comeback via crowd funding but ED needs more content to keep me hooked. I realize that in one year, two years, three years, etc., we will all be playing a vastly different game compared to v1.0 on release but as of right now I just have no desire to play.

I have a horrible feeling that vastly different game won't be Elite Dangerous.

stopped a couple of weeks ago now. Just could not bring myself to put more time in at the moment. Just feels empty to me. Have had a good time when I was really enjoying it . But in the end to me just felt like a grind for credits for a better ship , Really felt that whatever I was actually doing made no difference to the game at all and it lost the immersion for me . Had a great time though, but moved on now . I still read forums every day and wait for updates and hope that something will inspire me to play again . But at this moment if a paid expansion was going to be released , I would not be buying it as I feel the current version is no where near finished . This is of course just my opinion , It just hit me one day after another trade run . Just feels empty for me . But so glad lots are having a great time .

I read the forums most days, and I look down at my HOTAS but rarely pick it up to play anymore. I was wondering who else is feeling a little let down and sad by what we have so far? I still have high hopes for the game and think that they will make it much better this year.

To all you that are feeling like I do, stay hopeful. There is still time but the clock is ticking

The announcement that the game was going to be coming for the xbone was the final straw for me. Its more of a principle towards buying any game that is for consoles. Been burnt and dissapointed way too many times. Enough is enough.
And honestly, i've lost faith in this project since release. So im not that bothered really. I just pop in here to look for news and such.
I think we wont see anything new and awesome in this game until this time next year.

Little content, no communication with the community, no roadmap, no ingame tools to do whatever "Job" you choose.
Flying in the dark most of time. No matter what it is you are doing...

I got what i paid for when i bought the beta. But in the long run i feel it will be a long time before i start this game up again.

-No market trade tools.
-Mining sucks. No seriously. It sucks.
-Combat payouts are demotivating.
-No missions with a slice of passion. (Just randomly generated, extremely low paid, sad jobs.)
-Horrible in-game chat system.
-Most unsafe way of conducting traffic through a spacestation that i can think of.
-No paintjobs, decals or other cosmetics to aqquire ingame. (Paid content not included.) ...and what already is ingame is so miniscule and boring it doesnt count. Not for me.
-No NPC faces/characters or voiceovers, anywhere. No connection to your mission in any sense. Beyond the credits you are paid.
-Too many NPC spawns, all the time, all over, no matter where you are, with no purpose beyond being there for you to see.
-Background simulation doesnt really seem to work.
-Becomming allied with a faction is completely anti-climax. (You basically get a new color on the hud)
-Completely moronic programmed A.I. They want all of your cargo, even tho you dont have any or have dropped it all. They always just start shooting. Regardless of anything.
News and events, mostly created by someone from FD and not from player activities. Some player created experiments have made it to Galnet.
Community goals... seriously. How lame. Also the payouts from taking part in them are so low i dont know why anyone would.
-The bobblehead. In beta i had a bobblehead. Now i dont. Definitely the worst decision they made. Im guessing that will cost me 5£ from the store down the road if i ever want one again.

To the +

+Looks beautiful.
+Sounds great.
+Feels and plays smooth.
+Good atmosphere.
+Fairly addictive. (Trading in my case. The reason i bought it. 250+ hours maybe)

But in all those hours playing i sat with the sensation that something was missing. Everywhere.
As i said earlier. I got what i paid for when i bought it but as a RELEASED game that has now been out since 16th dec and in light of recent news, (Consolifization) i've completely lost all faith i had in this game.
Im not saying: "I wont ever come back." But im pretty sure i wont come back in quite a while.
Reading up on whats out there on the DLC/Update "Wings" i feel like, that stuff should've allready been in the darn game ok!
Im a supposed to be excited about wings!? For what?
In the end it doesnt matter what we think.
FD will ALWAYS follow the money above anything else. They are a company after all.

I am playing a few hours each week, much the same since alpha.

Certainly I am not burned out, but I do watch you tube vids while trading to stop being bored.
