How many of you don't play anymore?

I've gone back to War Thunder. The scenary is pure eye-candy, so I pretend my bomber is an elite ship attempting a planetary landing.

(The fiery deaths I pretend is air friction)

Well said.
The fact, that no dev ever came to this thread, commenting or explaining something, is not understandable for me.
Only, if they have no idea to sort things out ...

FD doesn't have to come into a thread to give us answers. Because they have already given us the answers, WE GONE A MAKE THE GAME WE WHANT!!!!!

Have not played in couple weeks. Chat sucks, radar sucks, and the incentive to trade for a good ship (Python) got nerfed. Too much catering to the Viper crowd. Waiting to see if more ships helps any, but very let down at the moment.

I'm finished now.

Spent weeks grinding to get a better trading ship for a better income and found that my trading route that used to net me 250K - 300K with 100 Tonnes, now only nets 88K with 200 Tonnes. With no trading tools and abysmally small jump ranges on these lumbering trading ships, moving around to find better trade routes isn't exactly fun, nor is it practical. I have effectively found that my weeks of work to upgrade my ship in between work was for nothing and now I'm earning less than I was before I upgraded.

I might stick my head in the door and find out what changes have been made but frankly, things like this tend to make me lose interest almost permanently. I just can't summon up the enthusiasm I had before.

We're going to make lots of money selling it to mugs who think they are getting a good game. Then we'll port it over to consoles and get some more mugs.

I haven't played since first week of release.
i am currently doing full update to check out game again, but every newsletter I get does not inspire at all.
I read about massive bugs, still same boring play but now even longer to make money for the ridiculously priced ships.
No real mission board, hackers blah blah blah.
I do like the combat in ED and just hope the bounties increase or missions make up for it as current ship prices are far beyond a casual player.

And there it is, my feelings exactly.

That's called marketing. It may be true on some level, but Frontier are a company. They need sales to pay the wages, rent the office space and keep the servers running,

It doesn't do them any favours if everyone just tells them what they want to hear. A bit more communication back from them wouldn't hurt either.

The state of the game at XBone launch or announcement of first paid expansion will be a better indication of where this game is headed.

Stopped playing 6-7 weeks ago, only come to the forums once a week in hope that something major has changed in this game. As far as I saw, the "game" is a good platform for another company to buy and produce a game. No real and interesting goals to achieve, apart buying a better ship and continue doing the same tedious things. Nevertheless, this game made me buy a Hotas and dedicate a large amount of continuous playing hours. But that's it. I have lost trust to the company too, with their sluggish improvement of the game. With this rate, IF they decide to continue to work on it, it might be playable and enjoyable in 2-3 years time. I can't escape the feeling that I was left down with the promises, and I don't even read the newsletters I'm getting anymore. Now they look as if Frontier is using them desperately to keep their fan base, which I think they lost already. And I speculate that most of us don't even bother to write in here, just playing something else while trying to forget the promise of a proper space sim. Soon more space games will be out and all this will be forgotten.

I'm a little late to this party, but my friend and I stopped playing. We may checkout wings, but for the most part there isn't anything of interest to do. I spent a day exploring and got bored to tears with scanning simulator. I ventured to some nebulas wondering if they looked awesome or unique... nope. The skymap was a little red, neat.

I traded and enjoyed using analytics to come up with trade routes. Prior to the trading nerf I had a 3 stop trade-route that was netting fantastic returns (total profit/3 was about 2950-3000 per ton.) Post-nerf it still is decent, about 2400~ per ton, but there's nothing to buy as the python doesn't interest me. These systems were out in little traveled space, 20 or less ships daily.

I've done bounty hunting and got bored really fast yet again, another scanning simulator followed by short combat. I found true love with the conflict zones, but after accruing around 400+ kills I got tired of it. Not due solely to the redundancy, but also the inability to see a difference in the system. If there was a ticket system that showed how many forces remained for each side, I'd actually be working towards a goal (given that ticket system isn't in the millions or something absurd.)

They market "impact the universe!" I haven't seen any changes. It seems the universe is a playground for 100,000 and only a handful showed up... or the mechanics just aren't in the game. If I could have a group take over a system or five in a day, that'd be cool. If the empire or federation or alliance expanded and retracted everyday, that'd be something I'd love to get in on. In actuality I login and the same people own the same systems. The community goals are just "grind to see no real change!"

Also, the jump mechanics bore me, which I recently posted my beef with that. So ya... I'll maybe come back when wings come out, but if that content bores me I'll just wait a year or so. Frontier already got my money, so I doubt they care about losses in activity. Just less server load.

Not playing for 1,5 month now. As alpha I invested quite a lot of money to support the game and can not say I'm disappointed, I HAD a good time playing it.
I'm bored right now, because there is nothing interesting and something I can be curious about at the moment.
The last moment when I felt this is the game made for me as a curious person was the finding of the voyager...

I still like the style of the game, graphics and sound, but balancing and content is far away from making me addicted to it.
The Galaxy just feels like a sandbox, but the tools to fill it up with something are missing, you just can use your one toy (ship) but the sand could not be formed with it really...

I will play from time to time to check what direction the game gets, actually it seems to get improved for combat, it's fine for me, maybe FD fills the mostly empty space with some ideas after that.
Reading books from the producer and dreaming of what the game could be doesn't work for me ;)

I have not played for two months. Stopped after collecting about 16mil in assets. The grind between Asp to Python is too long. Felt like I was wasting my time and moved on to better games.

I am only interested in single player. This game is balanced for MMO players who play the one game for thousands of hours. Not something that interests me.

Still playing, would play more but have lots to do in real life. So sometimes I only play once a week. Still fine with me. If you're not happy, don't play, no one is forcing you to. You could sell your Hotas for a decent amount of money to someone who does play (I don't need it)

That is the point of this game and always has been. It's not an empire building game.

You're the kind of player who I have constantly referenced in my posts about credit balancing and such. Sadly the game gets changed because of players who are outliers (those who spend day and night doing things) and no time is taken for casual players or solo players. This isn't a proper MMO and shouldn't be treated as one. Players should be allowed to play as they want to play and have fun. This is Frontier's marketing campaign, but they renege on it.

More than true. I just begin to suspect that the goal of FD isn't to resurrect/revive the old legendary Elite game and to please the old patient fans, as me (despite what some FD/David Braben's videos implied), but the goal was just to make a big profitable deal (I am very naive sometimes :)). Another clue is the development of the game on game console : players on game console aren't the typical players of simulation, but they are good consumers. Moreover, as the orientation of ED is closer to Wing Commander gameplay than the old Elite game (so closer to that SC will certainly intend to be), I fear that, once the "new fans" (the one that like action and combat over all) will be fed up with the features of the game, there will be a good chance to hear "Farewell!" from FD to ED, unless to continuously "feed" the new fans, with a DLC, a new chapter of ED, or something like that. This could be explained the "(just) 2 years working servers guarantee".

At the end, for some reason, I can't erase a sort of feeling of... "betrayal"... Strange, isn't it ?

I think I’ve stopped too.
I had a bit of time so I logged in yesterday. I was in a fed aligned station so was allied, which meant I get more missions from the bulletin board. And I had almost two pages of them, all the same. Bring 4 tons of junk here, fetch 2 tons of junk, deliver a really important message to someone you don’t care about and of course the elite anaconda assassination missions, just like the one’s before, and before that.
So I, looked at the commodity market with all its ‘medium demand’ where they pay below the galactic average and ‘high supply’ of scrap metal and I just logged off again.

Looking at what 1.2 is bring is of no interest to me either. Playing in wings is just playing the same game with a group, which I don’t have the flexibility in my time or the inclination to organize and two new shiny ships that do exactly the same but in slightly different arrangements of modules and hard points all the other ones doesn’t interest me either.

I read the forums most days, and I look down at my HOTAS but rarely pick it up to play anymore. I was wondering who else is feeling a little let down and sad by what we have so far? I still have high hopes for the game and think that they will make it much better this year.

To all you that are feeling like I do, stay hopeful. There is still time but the clock is ticking
Sounds like you are slightly more enthusiastic than myself.
This is the first time I have looked at the forums in ages, haven't played the game for about 6 weeks. Doesn't really seem like much has changed.

Looks like there are nearly 2 more ships getting added to the game finally, I've downloaded the 1.2 beta, but just couldn't be bothered trying it out.
When it goes live I might see if the wings update adds anything to the game, hopefully it does but I'm not sure how easily I will be able to get anyone on my friends list back to play again.

That happens to Trade routes that are being hit by many Players and i.e. not including a Permit System (you should check those once, some of them are nice Trade hubs with their natural limits of possible Traders).

Although I know it can be painful after getting used to a profitable, fixed Trade run to grind on (and possibly even optimize your Ship specifically for it).
But taking a small Ship to explore other Trade routes in your area doesn't take too long...
You'll find that good trade routes exist with Jump distances as low as 3LY, with the typical >13LY jumprange of many Trade ships, you'll find plenty of alternatives.

Plus, you'll encounter "Freeman" type Factions that have some government Allegiance - but at the same time ignore all their laws... Interesting commodities you'll find in their Commodity Markets despite being an official Government System ;)

I used to enjoy trading in the original Elite, because now and again it would reward you for seeking out new routes.

Every now and again you would find a system that would be selling dirt cheap computers (or any other commodity) and you would get very excited, load up the cargo bay and go and make a good profit and feel good about it.

There doesnt seem to be anything like that in ED currently, which makes trading a little too much like real life, sure you can make a profit, but it takes some work and isnt very satisfying.

It would be nice to have random systems that every now and again would offer low buy or high sell prices, just so we know that they are out there somewhere! :), it makes it more exciting.

Risk should also be an element of the trading game and that is also something that has been missing, buying cheap narcotics from Riedquat in the original game was lucrative but incredibly risky.

Trading is the thing I was looking forward to most in ED, not just buying and selling, but the risk vs reward element of it.
