How many ships do you own?

About 90.
19 regular used ships 20 module storage and 50 markers.
I parked my Cutters and Corvettes in certain systems so I don't need to travel with a 14ly ship like a Corvette.

90 is the record so far in this thread. Multiple Vettes stashed around the bubble to cut down on jumps. I hadn't thought of that.

All of this is a major factor why I use the cutter for trade/delivery missions. I can carry 720t and still kill any NPCs that come after me.

I kissed imperial butt just enough to get a courier. That's more Imperial butt than I ever wanted to kiss. Things may change again in the future, but I wouldn't count on it. lol. ;)

Similar to my experience with the FDL. Picked one up expecting to test it, hate it, sell it... however, still flying it and liking it more each time.

When I build my next FDL it will be my third time following that routine. Can't love it, now the Chief hasn't helped it either. I love how the chief flies, making it more and more unlikely that I will ever give the FDL enough chances to learn to love it.

I don't like the idea of having a fleet of ships as a private individual. Anyone with some disposable income can rent a ship deliver a few tons of crap (literally) & in a ludicrously short time, become the spaceship equivalent of Jay Kay....ie there should be billions & billions of such pilots flying around the bubble, but we only see 6 or 7 ships in SC on a regular basis in each system. It is a bit of a joke thinking that the equivalent of being a Ford Transit delivery driver makes anyone in in the 34th century rich beyond their wildest dreams - I guess the minimum wage has gone up a bit then!? Frontier? My suspension of disbelief is tingling...yet again!

Hence, I have 3 usable ships (not inc the obligatory storage ships):

DBX - ultra lightweight but combat-ready (lightweight chaff, heatsinks, weapons, class 3 shield, D rated dirty-drive thrusters & PD, 16tn fuel tank) I use this for assassinations too which demonstrates how Frontier's idea of PvE combat challenge is aimed at the lowest common denominator.

DBS - either fixed multis or all rails...my favourite ship, hands down. It is a pity it has been so terribly neglected by Frontier in comparison to the other combat ships in its class (or thereabouts) ie gaining military modules & EPTs

Vulture - Big game-hunting heavy fighter; two versions 1) Hulltank bi-weave no SCB & 2) Prismatic, 2 x class5 SCB....each with either APAs / fixed multis / pacifiers. I detest gimbals & think they should be barred from any cmdr who is ranked combat dangerous & above (apart from the large ships, Clipper & maybe some arbitrary others)

I clear saved after 'Horizons' dropped & bar the odd Python for mats/commodities (back in the "ole days" - 'was going to prefix with "good", but that would have been wholly inappropriate! [big grin]) collection, that's it!!...I used to specialise in the FDL but since its idiotic buff, I can't bring myself to fly it!

31, including one being used for module storage, and 2 Sideys.
Everything else is fully engineered.

I have 2 Kraits now that I fly most of the time, one is pure combat the other is multirole.
My 760t trade Cutter gets used for Powerplay.
Vette gets used for CZ mat gathering.
FGS is an old faithful standby.

As an aside, I just put together a DBX Guardian mat gathering ship, with 3 PDTs and LW weps for assisting.
As my first DBX, I can only say I'd never be able to use that ship for extended exploration.
Fuel scooping takes forever! Holy cow.
Asp wins that battle hands down!
It's actually worse having a really cool running ship because it's hard to tell when you are too close!
That's the first time I've crashed into a star in ages...

Got just the 4 in total
Sidey: parked... somewhere... long forgotten
Asp x: put my heart and soul into it. Was my got to ship for so long and taken me everywhere. How I fell in love with the game.
Python: my next jump from my asp x and took me forever to fall in love with it but after a few weeks I couldn't fly anything else. Does everything and so handy for missions especially great for medium pads.
Anaconda: took me forever to afford and the 1 I wanted more than anything! Done a bit of everything in it and the ship that helped me earn some serious cash. Now a rated and not sure where to go for my next 1. Any suggestions welcome!

Let's see...
A Cobra mkIII. Same one I had progressing upwards, was a keeper, ahh nostalgia... Use it as a runabout if I'm feeling it, planetary prospecting, system trawling for USSs etc.
iCourier. 851m/s combat fitted now. Used to use it a lot, came to really dislike the flight model though, dunno why.
DBS. Silent/Cold ship. Biggest PP to run four Short Range Rails. Lots of fun!
DBS. Silent/Cold again, Thermal Vent Beams and Rails. Not so much cold running as permanently frozen.
DBX. Has just shy of a 70ly range, tend to use it for engineering weapons and Boosters, going to the Guardian sites etc. I reside middle bubble and it'll get to Dav's Hope in three jumps, which is nice. I guess it's an Exploration ship in setup :/ although I'd rather poke myself in the eye than use it for that.
AspX. For when I fancy a bit of a passenger Sightseeing session.
Clipper. Still set up for LTD piracy but hasn't seen much use in a while.
Python. Set up as pure Multirole. Not flown in well over a year! It's great but lacks personality, space Lexus.
Chieftain. PvE Res Laser boat. Various combos of Pulses, Bursts and Rails depending on mood. Currently LR Pulses in the 1s n 2, class 3s Fixed Inertial Impact Burst lasers. Lots of fun! Utterly devastating against bigger ships, Bursts almost useless at any range (although only one pulse out of six has to hit an Eagle at range to wreck it), laser shotgun. Class 2 slot always has a Scramble Spectrum Pulse, drives failing is followed by lolz and a very quick death. My current most flown ship. I have to think twice about taking on a triple Elite Anaconda wing in it, whereas an FDL just murders everything which is getting boring.
FDL. PvE Res hunter/Assassination runner, Cop murderer.
FDL. PvP or Wing Assassination runner. PA's n Rails.
Type 9. Cargo runner. Sometimes you just gotta truck illegal things in large quantities.
Corvette. Mostly gathering dust.

More than I thought!
Multiple Vipers for storing my arsenal of weapons.

My character is a ship collector so I have all the ships plus I have a few duplicates or variants which makes a total of 50 ships (51 tomorrow). That number doesn't include SLF's.

Three ships - was two until a couple of weeks ago when I decided I wanted a Cobra III again. Other two are a general-purpose Python, and an Explorer Asp. Don't see a need for more - just adds a bunch of management and complication, IMHO, but for those of you with a fleet I hope you enjoy 'em!

It gives us something to do with our 8hrs/day playing time.
