How to "confirm" Jackson's Lighthouse (neutron star) in Codex?

Went to Jackson's Lighthouse (Codex->Discoveries->Astronomical bodies->Neutron Star) which is for me only Reported.
There I honked, FSS'd, even got so close to neutron star I dropped out of supercruise. Tried even firing probes on it!
Nothing.
No confirmation.
Any ideas how to get this confirmed in my codex? tnx o7

Edit: Now that I'm looking deeply in Codex, all my confirms are in fact same bodies but on different locations... huh...

Isn't this close enough? 🧐

In the Codex, what you’re confirming is types and variants of things, not specific instances of things.

So, for a given region:
  • Reported is the first instance of something that any player has discovered
  • Confirmed is the first instance of something that you have discovered.

Reported and confirmed will only be the same if:
  • You are the first player to discover and instance of something in a region. Or,
  • The instance which has already been reported in a region is also the first instance you personally discover/visit in that region.

From what you’re saying it sounds like all is probably working, and you’ve just already discovered an instance of that type of Neutron Star in the Inner Orion Spur.

If you haven’t already got an instance of that type of Neutron Star confirmed for the Inner Orion Spur, then it’s a bug. In which case, report in on the issue tracker.

Hope that helps! o7

@Thatchinho
This is my first "intentional" visit to certain Reported place as all I have confirmed so far was on my exploration trips, "unintentional".
Never thought of that, but like you said, visiting someone elses reported thing doesn't make it confirmed, but I have to find it elsewhere myself.
A bit strange but guess that's it.

Well, just for clarity, you don't have to find it elsewhere - it will make the reported one confirmed for you if you haven't already found an instance of it in the region. (Or it should, assuming all is working correctly.)

Just to illustrate, for me, my Confirmed Location for NS in the Inner Orion Spur is Synuefe DC-S D5-11, because that's the first NS I visited after the launch of 3.3. If instead, Jackson's Lighthouse had been the first NS I'd visited after the launch of 3.3 then my Confirmed Location for NS in the Inner Orion Spur would be Jackson's Lighthouse.

(I'm just using 'Confirmed Location' in that bit because that's how it's written in the Codex; 'Reported Location' and 'Confirmed Location'.)

Yes, that is how the Codex works. It's a "trainspotter's guide", not a comprehensive list.

Have I seen a Neutron Star in this Region? Yes? Tick the box, Neutron Stars in this Region are Confirmed now. No new Codex entries for Neutron Stars in that region are recorded, though it will also keep track of your personal "records" - biggest, smallest, hottest, coldest, that sort of thing.

For the record, "honking" is all you need to do to get a star entered into the Codex. For planets, you need to run the FSS scan (or fly within 32 Ls so the passive scan kicks in). For lifeforms, anomalies and such you need to hit them with the Composition Scanner.
