How to discard items?

By mistake i collected a prohibited good ("Push") and want to get rid of it now. But how? First i tried to select it in my backpack on foot (Q-wheel menu), but there is no option to discard it, only info about the item. Then i tried the storage menu in cockpit, toggled to discard-mode, selected the item and then "confirm items discard". But then i only see a permanently rotating symbol on this button, obviously it got stuck and doesnt finish the job. Relogging or restarting the game didnt help. Always the same. I cant get rid of this item.

Any ideas? Is this a bug or what did i do wrong?

You can keep it and either donate to Domino Green or sell to a bartender. The cops will not bother you, unless it is in your backpack.

When the item is selected on a planet, highlight it and you can then drop.

Just a reminder, everything other than push in the freight container sites are VALUABLE.
Keep picking up and selling these items will ruin gaming experience. : P

Right Panel > Storage > Transfer Items > Toggle Transfer Mode

Just drop the on the ground. I usually do that when i reach the caps and get the boarding warning.
Illegal stuff can be sold only to Bartenders in Anarchy stations...

Having illegal stuff in storage has no detrimental effects. If you have them transferred on your suit, then you better not get scanned.

Collecting prohibited items on foot only has consequences if you're scanned after picking one up before returning to your Ship/SRV.
Once back in your Ship/SRV all items are transferred into your Ship's storage & if you're scanned while flying, won't be detected.
So unless you're stuck for storage space, the fact that you're packing illegal items don't mean jack......as other's have said, use for the Engineer or sell them to the barkeep in Anarchy Systems, where by magic they get transported from your Ship directly to him/her.

Thanks for all the answers. Dropping from my backpack works now. Somehow the keybinds were (and still are) not working properly. In the Q-menu the arrows-keys are working, but i cant select with the mouse (works in other menus), only with my Joystick-button. For navigation in menus and selecting I have assigned the arrow-keys/mouse 1 and the Joystick coolie-hat/fire-button in the interface mode /UI Panel-settings. Joystick works, arrow-keys are working, but mouse 1 does not (in this backpack menu).

Yes, the WASD, arrow key and controller discrepancy is still in there for me too. One of the updates fixed some of the menus, but not all of them.
