How to merge or split coastertracks

I've downloaded a coaster with two stations next to each other. After leaving the station the tracks merge to one track and at the end of the lifthill it splits again into two tracks. At a certain point they merge again, and the before entering the station they split again. I wonder "how do you do that"?
