Newcomer / Intro How to mine Opals?

Thanks to all CMDRs who responded, tonight I finally have some free time, so a void opal mining I shall go.

Yeah, not good - too long afk (or ed in this case), EDDB was not working, so I used another site (? not sure which), forgot to set icy and got metal rich instead, wasted 100s of light years of travel in my mining Corvette, my VR stopped working (Thanks Oculus' terrible software), I got distracted buying a Mamba and shooting stuff instead.

Will try again when the fancy takes me (after another long trip into the black methinks in my Asp Explorer the Beagle or Bust, yes she has been there twice now!)

Still, doesn't mean I don't appreciate (and have printed out) the advice given here.
