Newcomer / Intro How to self destruct

I have little time in a sidewinder with about 300,000 credits and just made peddler status lol. Anyway I dont know what happened partial indiciction with being too close to a sun I dont know anyway Tried to land at Aldrich station with out autodocking because my module was fried as well as flight assist and picked up a 400 credit fine for loitering but made it back out the mail slot as well as mass hold. When too my highlighted red list of modules and gave them a number 1 priority as well as trying to repair them which from what I heard you can only do at a station. I do have half a tank of gas and plenty of pips for engine, systems and weapons. Not worrying about rebuy. Should I just stay logged in aaaaaaaaaaaaand let life support do its thing or how do I go about self destruct since theirs no options on any of the panels I can see so far. I assume I will just lose my data on my computer I was doing as a couier. Thx in adv.

Right Panel/Ship Tab/Functions Menu, at the bottom of the panel...there is a 3 second delay between the "Self Destruct" button and the confirmation button...

The prio isn't going to help (not unless your power plant is severely damaged too), that only determines in which sequence the modules are switched off if your PP fails.
But the same right hand menu that holds the "self destruct" button also holds the "repair and reboot" button. Using this shuts off your ship, then reboots, cannibalizing the health of some modules to get the others back up working.
But yes, manually landing a Sidey isn't too difficult, either. Or even crashing it into the correct pad.

The docking practice tutorial lets you try over and over without risk. It's cleverly located in the Challenge Scenarios section of the Training stuff. You can get there from the main menu, or from the right panel of your ship.

You can't rely on the autodocking all the time (as you've discovered). In some places, auto docking is even disabled (stations under repair, for example).

Knowing how to dock manually is an excellent skill to acquire.

I was manually docking before I did the autodocking when I first started playing but this time my flight assist module was fried and made the docking allmost impossible with my controller.
