How to you get out of scan mode?

Help!! I’m having alsorts of weird issues in VR that I’ll report as bugs when I understand what’s happening but that aside...

How do you completely leave scan mode? When I’ve scanned a planet and want to land on it I can’t get rid of the blue blob that engulfes it after the scan? Trying to land on it like that is horrible in VR. I’m guessing the same method for no VR to lose the blue covering is the same if not in VR.
