Powerplay How would YOU revive Powerplay?

Players give allegiance to a faction and each faction belongs to one of the powers. The mission board shows missions for your faction that support the powerplay activities and these feed into the powerplay system. For a full restructure I would remove the powers and just simply have factions and do the power play activities at the faction level.

Yep, I agree, make it minor faction -> power play -> super power based, take missions specific to powerplay objectives and even allow for BGS influence changes to feed into the powerplay mechanics too

This.

But I would also remove Arissa Lavigny Duval simply because she IS the major power of the empire as the Empress and having her as a PP faction kind of skew the Imperial PP factions since she could order them abolished.

- Heads of state should NOT be a PP "faction" since they ARE the major faction.
- PP Factions should instead be minor powerblocks WITHIN a major faction.
- Independent PP factions like Archon Delaine are powerbrokers between the large powerblocks and work for both, or no side.
- Add PP equipment at a reputation rating of ALLIED so that there is a good grind for the gear.
- Have PP ranks rise and wane depending on if a players MISSIONS go against a PP faction that can lower his reputation (You can be allied to SOME but you will never be allied with ALL PP factions)
- Minor faction missions within a PP faction influence counts towards PP rank (Friend of a friend)

After a few weeks of hard virtual graft, and almost non-stop "Legitimised Piracy" (Undermining) in rival-controlled territory (the only way to get enough Merit without paying millions for the privilege), Merit decay is now probably, for me, the worst thing about PP.

It's a real struggle for me to try and keep up with the massive Merit losses each cycle - in a supreme act of defiance (or maybe stupidity?) I'm going to stick it out until I hit Rank 5, but I don't know if I can be bothered to keep it up after my first CR50m payout. It's way too grindy, and for someone with only a few hours each week, it means I don't really have enough time to keep up (especially if I want to go and do something else)!

Currently I'm somewhere around 3,000 Merits, and to watch so many of them disappear each week is depressing. If the decay was less severe, I could probably put up with all the other weird profitless missions and be more engaged with supporting my 'team'.

At the moment, I have a CR2m+ bounty, less money than I started PP with, and a bit of a headache. That's not a decent enough reward for dozens of hours of commitment to my Faction!

Drop it to 10% decay, and that would be a massive improvement. If FDev really want to insist upon more time investment in PP, then the decay could accelerate over time:
Decay Week 1 after no PP activity: 10%
Decay Week 2 after no PP activity: 25%
Decay Week 3 after no PP activity: 50%
Decay Week 4 after no PP activity: 75%
Etc. etc.

If you do any PP activity, the timer resets. That would encourage "little and often" contributions to PP, but if you stop / give up actively working for your Faction then the decay gets more severe the longer you leave it.

Here's to some improvements when 2.3 goes live!

This is the part that broke the camels back for me.

Imagine if you will if ALL minor factions AND the military factions would forget the work you have done.

- All military standing GONE after 4 weeks
- All minor faction ranks GONE after 4 weeks

Better yet, the PILOT FEDERATION forget we have signed up for them and forget all the work we put in for MONTHS.

And just because we have OTHER THINGS TO DO they completely forget we exist and our ELITE rankings go down the crapper.

Make it be more than just another take on "take X to Y" or "kill z". Something unique... Strategic. Assaulting space stations, dropping Commandos for planetary assault, setting up forward bases on remote moons... that kind of thing.

Hmm - actually I'm not sure that's such a bad idea. Your pilots federation ranking should decrease over time, if you think about it. Just because you used to be a hot shot back in the day, have you still really got what it take to call yourself Elite?

Good idea. Having a reduction on merit decay based on weeks pledged to a faction where the minimum % decay after like 20 weeks or 2% drop in decay per week, could be something like 10-20% and fiddled for balance by FDev. Doesn't seem too hard to implement and definitely makes sense roleplaying wise.

Saying that, 30Million Credits to spend. Got a Type 7 cargo fitted with a SRV bay for Planet missions currently in the Vega System doing missions to increase Fed Rank.. any suggestions as to what ship I can use for Powerplay?? Was thinking about a vulture.

Type 7 is fine for ranking up to and maintaining rank 4 with hauling. You could find a close system to headquarters to fortify or prep a system. With hauling 200T in a type 7 it could take 6 round trips initially with fasttrack and about 11.25 million. But then maintaining rank 4 with your type7 after would only take 4 trips and the fasttrack would be paid for by your 5mil salary. You could swap out modules in your Type7 between PP hauling and your normal configurations. Later on you could do the hauling in a python/clipper for more protection. Then later reach and maintain rank 5 with a type-9 or cutter/corvette at >=500T per trip.

And do you have a few hundred thousand pounds to throw at FDev to do that? Because that's what that will take. Maybe you need to grow up and realize that FDev isn't going to make drastic changes to PowerPlay, because dratic changes requires resources, and they've made it perfectly clear that they aren't going to dedicate resources to something that isn't particularly popular.

You can , whine, cry, imagine strangers rubbing one out while staring at spreadsheets (which is a weird thing to imagine, but to each their own), complain, run around screaming your head off all you want - that's not going to change their priorities on how to develop the game. Some of us are grown ups up realise that we have to make do with what we're given - others decide to throw temper tantrums in the hopes that someone will give them exactly what they want.

An additional idea, each pledged Cmdr of their chosen power get full access to a summary of updated changes in All controlled systems and their respective local systems... which highlights current State and current Influence levels and Control system Trigger Ratio's

PP control systems missions also have a little Full motion video sequences, giving both context to political influence in the 15LY bubble and a current status on or summary on states of surrounding 15Ly systems

reducing the need to go into Galaxy map and checking out individual states of systems influence levels

*tedium reduced more useful information, opening up the knowledge of the mechanics of PP*

They should remove merit decay, once rank 5, always rank 5, ditch the salary system and make payment when you actually do pp missions. That way it would not exclude people with a real life outside ED and everyone could participate whenever they wanted and just leave it when feeling tired and come back again when they feel like it. Also remove the PP module , because it gets people to join and leave for the wrong reasons.

I would love to support my power alot more than i do, but to actually get too rank 5 (that you have to be to actully matter) i have too quit my real job and work 24/7 for my choosen power, hence i will never get anything more than rank 1, and being rank 1 and help my power is just pointless..
