Huge decline in console player numbers, Hull Seals consider disclaimer & drop support.

No.

As I've already said: the 'type' of player on console using any type of journal upload client is more likely to be the dedicated player as opposed to the casual.
I think that gives a fair indication of volume though: casual players are much more likely to dip in and out infrequently, whereas dedicated console players are more likely to run an upload client of some form consistently.

Therefore any decline in that volume is indicative of a trend amongst dedicated Elite players on console.

Isn't that a presumption though, or do you have evidence of it being fact?

Serious question.

And again, not to mention that many, many people, such as myself, are sick of video games after 2020/21, and taking this opportunity to live our lives again.

Play video games or meet people for fun times?

Hmm, such a difficult decision... I think not. Video games, adios! I won't miss them. 😂
My hangover on Sunday tried to tell me that meeting people for fun times on Saturday was a bad idea 😂

In the case of console players the decline began around the time that the first Odyssey delay was announced in January - in Winter. That decline has continued.

Also don't forget that not everyone in the world has summer in July...

But where is the fun in not making wild threads based on one set of statistics?!

Let's keep the speculation and rage farming going, it's jolly good fun!
Why don't you list them all though, so the forum has an opportunity to look at all the statistics that you are referring to?

It does make you sound very important though making a statement like that.

And for clarity, I'm not arguing against your supposition, I just think one of two statistical examples is a poor effort to draw a conclusion from - in case you think I'm having a go at you like you normally do.

I know you're just being cynical and, simultaneously, humouring losers....

No it's indicative in decline in use of the client. You assume that that indicates a decline in use of the console.

I'd call it a reasonable assumption, wouldn't you?

For the sake of argument though ... for it not to be, we'd have to introduce another reason for players to continue playing Elite on console, but not using a client where previously they did. Are you aware of such a reason?

But everyone in the world was just released from a nearly 2 year lockdown, so how are you not accounting for that, being as it is the the most prominent data point in regards to this discussion.

Yes, they cut back on their phone data plan, as they no longer need it, being stuck at home and all. I would also argue your other point that "hard core" players use those tools. In my experience, hardcore players tend to have their own way of tracking stuff and may or may not use those sort of tools, whereas a casual player will tend to use whatever help they can get.

But to answer your question, there is no such thing as a good assumption. Assumptions are all biased and flawed, all of them.

Sorry, you're really not convincing me, but that's ok - we can have different opinions.

Wasn't trying to convince you of anything, just pointing out that you are making assumptions, at the wrong time of the year, using bad data and defending it like crazy, all while almost everyone here has pointed out the flaws in all your arguments. I am not even saying that there isn't an actual decline in console usage, which there may well be, but nothing of what you have posted supports that claim.

I've so far only actually seen one fact that refutes the assertion that there's a steady decline in console players, and that was the 3% month on month increase in logins to Inara from consolers.

(I'll repeat again though, since you've brought it up again, that it's only summer in certain parts of the world right now...)

Another Doom one? been a bit busy these days so i missed the start-up... vacation is getting close.
The stats seem similar to the ones from last year, same period
Guess people go in vacation during summer and play less ED... but yea, DOOM

Anyway, to take the fuel rats / seal hulls reports as an indicator of players population... that's brave 😂

From those stats I can only notice the Influx of nooblets that cannot check their fuel gauges post ED launch on Epic Games in last November and the influx of nooblets on XB after ED was introduced in XB Game Pass - that is a sort of free game for the 30+ millions of Game Pass/Ultimate subscribers.
And the OP puts the lack of nooblets on PS on behalf of lack of 4k 😂 - when actually it's a lack of game being offered more or less free on PS.
