Turrets should be first person with the ability to switch between turrets. Everything else is not like Star Wars.

I mean, that -sounds- great, but you might find you are getting thrown around so much you have a bit of trouble aiming.

Gyroscopically keeping you on the same rotation, sure, but you wouldn't be able to fire if your turret isn't on the right side.

Maybe, you could switch between turrets, that might end up being a bit mad too though.

It could work.... seems like it might be a TAD fiddly though.

I'd actually prefer a system where yes, you can be first person - but you also have some kind of user interface that allows you to select which turrets are targetting which ship (and even which modules)

I didn't realise it was that popular!

To be honest, it's more popular than you might think, whenever I open my ship up for multicrew, it doesn't take long to get 2 crew on board and flying fighters.
Certainly faster than most of the times I've tried to get into a match in CQC.

The current view could be used to select which turret targets which ship (or submodule) while first person allows you to fire and aim manually with the option to switch turrets.

I've only used it a few times to be fair, had a RL friend fly one of my SLF's which he enjoyed, the rest was another player showing me various things with me sitting passively and watching. Can't say I'm overly eager to use it anytime soon again but appreciate it's particularly handy for newer players who are still limited in what they can do in the game.

For me the whole point of mutli-crew is to use the SLF. Gunner role is fine but its not for me. If Im bored ill jump into MC for a quick fight coz its easier. Ill bug you to fit the right SLF though if theres a station nearby. Give me one fixed and one plasma to choose from :)

Vice versa I have 2 SLFs, 1 Fixed 1 Gimballed so they can choose and the NPC takes the other. I only have 1 PH though and the rest PL & BL so maybe not as much fun for them either :)

How easy is it to get into a MC session? I admit I never actively tried, apart from once when nothing happened for several seconds so gave up quickly.

Depends whats happening, strangely Im less inclined at CGs coz they take my contributions but have done it for an explorer friend who had never done combat outside the training mission and never played in Open either. 1st time fighting, in an SLF, at a CG, and in Open, he loved it :) Pretty sure still exploring in Solo though.

I havent done it since the new update but assume it now works like CQC matching, you carry on with your game until a match is found and you can then choose so it doesnt stop the game like it used to? Have to try it now. Usually got a match pretty quickly for BH (few seconds to few minutes), havent tried others.

The connections can still be hit and miss but anecdotally that seems to be all or nothing, its ether gonna work for everyone or its not gonna work for anyone at that time, doesnt seem to be individual connections. Sometimes best just to give up and try an hour later and 100% fine and no issue at all, have been in MC for couple hours then no issue. Just getting the initial connection seems to be wonky sometimes or it'll keep crashing very soon after joining, once its stable its stable.

Packhounds are:
  1. Pretty cool to watch
  2. Best when spammed
  3. Locked behind a tedious grind wall and only really useful for PVP so a lot of people will have never used them
  4. On a ship you chose to share with random PUG players.
  5. Unusual in that they are missles that can cook your ship. No other missiles will do that, so it's possible people don't even realise the problem they're causing.
I'm not trying to sympathise with random people who are cooking your ship with packhounds, I'm just laying out the facts for you and commenting that FDev almost never, ever, bother reading these requests on these forums or doing anything about them. Expect multicrew to still be exactly (as broken) as it is now in 2024.

The thing that bothers me is - you can't select "Just put me in any ship! I don't care what activity!"

That would be a great option.

Currently, it's split into LOADS of smaller groups so you could be looking for a ship that's doing Bounty hunting, finding none, but there's 6000 doing Xeno combat.

Just give us a "Find any crew seat" option
