I do not like exobiology

The mini-game in alpha didn't make sense and focused on the repetitiveness of the action and that the action would take a while (it's not for nothing they have removed the heat map with the mini-game : the time you spent failing the mini-game is now spent failing to find plants) rather than the satisfaction of doing the job right. I think better gameplay would have been, for example, to focus on sampling rather than the analysis itself.

First, find a good spot on the plant where to take the sample (with, for example, a colour scheme or beeps where we point the sigth to precisely locate a good spot). Then in a second step a mini-game to calibrate the pressure needed to take the sample (too low, you don't get enough material, too high, the material is partially destroyed).
The difficultie to find a good point would be more or less difficult to obtain depending on the species and its state of development. The difficulty in calibrating the pressure could itself be partly determined by the sampling point chosen.
The quality of the sample obtained would then determine the quality of the analysis and the number of additional samples to be taken in order to carry out a complete analysis.
In this case, each action makes sense and even if you make a mistake, you make progress in obtaining your analysis.

And secondly, being able to analyse several species simultaneously. For example, being able to change tanks that would allow you to keep these samples until you have enough samples to make a complete analysis (possibly, conservation could be temporary to avoid collections of eternal samples forgotten forever).

I think also that a lobaratory module would be more than welcome to manage the tanks and samples and make further more analysis.

I hope they go back and expand on it and flesh it out a bit, because it could be interesting. it has potential. but at the moment it feels like a poorly executed afterthought that they even bungled a bit with the not very-well-thought-through pointless mini game that they had to change. Maybe they didn't have enough time to do it properly. They were too busy with the pew pew arena style basic capture-the-flag first person shooter stuff.

If you don't like exo biology, then don't do it.

If you don't like Engineering, don't do it.

If you dislike combat, don't do it.

If you hate trade, don't do it.

If mining sucks for you, don't mine.

At what point do we concede that a lot of mechanics in this game are just designed to not be fun. You can only tell someone to "just not do it" so many times before they are stuck not doing anything.
This is a very simplistic approach, inaccurate and arguably in bad faith.

The game has loads of mechanics, and everyone will have their personal preferences and their dislikes.

Someone doesn't like mining, someone doesn't like exobiology, someone doesn't like combat, and so on.

If, as you infer in your final paragraph, it's the same person who doesn't like anything, then that person is probably playing the wrong game.

I quite enjoyed exo scans far out in the Black. A good reason to visit many planets, drive my SRV, do a lot of low-altitude flying, dive into canyons, reach mountain tops. But I had some bad luck with dying in my SRV and on foot. Due to that I cashed only about 75M but lost over 120M of exo data. Which made me decide to wait for Vista Genomics available at my carrier. So, I'll resume my exo career, sometime. ;)

It's more tedium added on to an already tedious task, but at least with regular exploration it is still rewarding enough to be worth it. Finding a ringed Earth-like world? hell yeah! having to travel sometimes kilometers to scan 1 thing 3 times, and then do it again for the next, and again, and end up being on the same body seeing the same 2 different plants even though you got back on the ship, went far enough out to use dss to find the specific organism you haven't found yet, land and still see those same 2 plants and not the one you are looking for. no.
on top of that, grinding elite rank for it is the worst out of all the elite rank grinds, since you need to do all that tedium about roughly 1000 times. thanks but no thanks
I agree that having to scan things 3 times is really annoying, and it dosen't add any interest nor challenge. Scanning once would be enough in my opinion, as scanning once already involves quite a lot of time if you add everything up, especially on those planets where you have to look for 6 or more species... If they really want us to grind, at least make it two times.

You really hope that FDev will let you bypass the grindpoint 🤭
IIRC, certain mats that were useless previously were turned into Colonia EDO engineers unlock requirements.

But you're most probably right, and I still have inventory space anyway.

then don't do them .. what's the problem? I don't like PvP, so I don't do it, simple as that.
I rather have game with MORE content than less .. I can't believe you're crying over having MORE content. Why not ask for a game with just 1 ship and 1 station and that's all there is, wouldn't that be amazing?
"then don't do them" you say that like I haven't already stopped and am willingly torturing myself as if my life depended on it. And where did I say I hate more content? I hate the tedium with threadbare benefits from exobiology. there is a huge difference between the two. I can't believe you dont understand there is a difference and crying about it

I disagree. I enjoy traversing the surface in the srv looking for bio diversity.

I quite like the Exobiology. Would like to have seen more variety, but planet surfaces are more interesting to me now.
I don’t like only being able to sample one plant at a time. Sometimes you scan one specimen and don’t see another for ages and end up travelling past loads of others you could have scanned along the way. Feels like that wastes a bit of time, but it not too often that happens.
