I had an idea from another thread, I personally would love to see it happen

Whilst reading this thread discussing NPC's named after loved ones, I did some searching and couldnt find a place listing them all, so I came up with the idea that if you have named an NPC after someone you love, whether living or unfortunately passed away, drop the names in here, and if any of us come accross them in game we could post screenshots of them, this gives a greater chance of them being spotted in game, take the screenshot and add the location where they were spotted.

Anyway hopefully we can get some spotted and captured in a screenshot for those of you that added them to the NPC database.

Great idea, I would love someone to let me know if my named NPC is found so I can go see them.

(Not naming it yet just in case ED themselves or the consensus is a no)

But I vote no. It is a game after all and the NPCs are named randomly, so the next time it may be a pirate ship...

Also do you really want to check any NPC you run into against a list of 20k names? Additionally there would definitely be some sick individuals making a sport hunting the named ones down and posting kill shots.

I like it how it is, and I don't want to feel a pang of guilt for shooting down a pirate with someone's dead reliative's name (ignorance is bliss here). One of the reasons I did not post my father's name in the thread (I sure as hell have screenshots).

I would wholeheartedly hope and wish to believe so, but in addition to seeing the heights we can soar to, I have also seen the dark depths we, both as a species and as individuals, can sink to, so I tend to side with Caiburn. I know I'd probably start an attack run if I saw someone killing my father's ship in the game, and if someone was actually attacking him KNOWING it was someone's loved one? Yeah, I wouldn't be able to let that go, even if I shot them down. I can be a very vengeful person, particularly when it involves something like that...


Yeah, as sweet as the original thought is, I just don't think it's wise. It does makes me rather sad to say that


... But perhaps it's better that way? It's one thing when you see a picture of your loved one's ship posted by someone else - It's something even more special when you run into them randomly out in the black, living out their new life amongst the stars
