Horizons I have a problem

:S:S I occasionally get shot at by umm... see the pic? I am not wanted I don't owe any fines. I do delivery missions and return with mission specific metals. Not upsetting anyone, am I? Happened once a week ago but yesterday two in a row. I have lodged a ticket with details to see if the support team could make heads or tails of it. Apparently no luck. Probably a bug. Can any other commander shed light on these happenings?
One thought I had (head hurts) was that a game mechanic makes NPCs angry about me delivering stuff to a system and station that a faction is against? Or something like that?

If you are running missions, then NPC's will on occasion be sent against you, to give you a challenge, you know... :)

Delivery missions spawn opponents from time to time, and the 'go and get us x tons of y' missions seem to spawn them even more often.

Is this what you are seeing?

Plenty of NPC pirates wanting my cargo. That is normal, but this message along with immediate attack seems strange to me.
Months ago, I did a CG and the bad guys faction eventually wanted me dead. Similar wording to my picture.

I am not wanted anywhere! I have no bounties or warrants anywhere! Support has verified this.
So it is a bug, or a mission to deliver goods to another system has triggered a hostile reaction. The problem with considering a hostile reaction is there is no bounty or warrant shown against me.
If the attackers had me flagged as wanted, then it would be normal. But nothing is shown. That is why I was hoping for other commanders to advise me if they had this experience.

Thanks for your reply.

If the faction you are working for has an opposing faction and is in some conflict status, then you would be running into the opposing faction.

Early on in my short career I accidentally let some assignments expire, not realizing they were realtime hours to complete instead of gametime hours. Not long after I was dodging interdicts to the tune of three or four per system, most preceded by the message you posted. I was not wanted nor had I any fines, I just ticked off some people by failing their assignments. The attempted murders were very annoying but I outflew them all, and they persisted only for a day or so. So yes, you probably did something to annoy some faction rather strongly.

I haven't seen this message since then, but still get warnings from clients that certain NPCs are after me, and they usually show up within the system in which I get the warning message -- all SOP. Less often and more random are the unannounced interdiction attempts by scum-sucking pirates after my cargo, or occasionally just a psycho urge on their part when it happens while I'm running empty.

Aha, Chipstar65. I think you cracked the code. (Only think mind you) I did fail a mission as I spent a night in bed. As one is want to do.
The only thing that I can't recall is whether the fail was before or after the attack.
DuzzanMatter ........ I know to be more careful now.

A HAHA edit: I killed the contract killer. he said "That's not right" hehe. :D:D

Kick starting this subject again.
Today I had an assassin on my tail. (Again)
But he was from a different faction in a system I have not dealt with for nearly 6 months.
Is there some way to track down a Faction reason who is handing out these missions and get on their good side?

Did you get an Incoming Enemy Alert message prior to the attack? I have had these show up before completing a mission but after a couple of jumps while doing other stuff. I've never been able to identify their faction/home system, though, I just assume they are random mercs since they often say "I do this for a living." They must be starving, though, as I have yet to be taken by one of them..

When I scan the attacker his information is available. Name. Rank. Faction of such and such.

powerplay?

No. Solo and open. And as ChipStar65 mentioned, the saying is usually "Don't worry! I do this for a living." Of course, their living was not long.

Flogging a dead horse here, so sorry! How can I get on the good side of a faction. I have got a partial name of one faction, and I know where the other Assassin came from.
Okay, should have worded the question differently. If I go to the system, and the faction is not hostile, and I do missions for them, will they stop attacking?

They don't pay enough. Just a nuisance.
