I have found Jaques Station!

I must say I'm insanely jealous, I've dreamed of being the first to discover something! Now fly safe on the way back, you need your name on that system!

That's like saying that I am disrespecting my colleagues at work waiting for me in an important meeting because I'm in hospital after being run over by a drunken driver.

Jaques was damaged and forced out of Witch Space by alien artefacts. That's hardly deliberate.

In the original Elite on the BBC Micro, Thargoids found you in Witch Space and pulled you out into normal space. You were lucky if you survived the resulting attacks and if you did you could still find yourself too far from anywhere to be able to get back unless you had a hyper jump drive, or whatever it was called.

So, hypothesising for a moment, perhaps when you are in Witch Space the aliens use a scanner technology that makes your hull ring, hence the singing sound, and a bit like using a sonar, allows them to home in on your ship and pull you into normal space.

Possibly....

I don't understand....

Either the devs intended for the station to be found by players searching, which is why the station assets are in the game, and they went through the trouble of writing those mayday messages, but in this case why didn't they remove the background NPCs etc.

Or they did not intend it to be found yet, which is why they did not bother to adjust the BGS etc.. but why is the station accessible? They could have simply removed it from the game, or they could have locked the system behind a fictive permit etc.

cly apparently was searching nebulas between sol and beagle point and stumbled upon the dot according to alligence / government.

Wasnt a regular forum poster here, seems he was more a reddit type, and well im sure that story will play out unless it was an Fdev plant to give us the info for some reason in which case he might vanish into the void

Interesting times ahead
