I just had a hands-on try with the CV1+Touch

I just had a hands-on try with the CV1+Touch, in many ways it’s much better than my DK2 and everything is certainly very much clearer when compared to the DK2.

BUT I found the outer border of the view has a very bad binocular effect, the 2 visible archs at the outter edges are especially bad; whereas as my DK2 has a very solid viewing area, more like a divers mask.

I think this could get really annoying after a period of time and now I can’t make up my mind if I should get one; so to help me could those of you playing with a CV1 tell me:

Do you notice this?

If yes is it something that you stop noticing, can tune out after a while?

Did you have your IPD set properly? This can help with edge distortion. After playing in the Rift for a while you get use to looking straight ahead and turning your head to look. The feeling of binoculars, godrays and lower resolution diminish over time. Most here agree that they won't go back to playing ED on a monitor now. The pros far out weigh the cons in VR. With things like pixel density adjustments, ATW, ASW, etc it just keeps getting better even for a first generation device. Although, I had a Touch reservation on pre-order, I have not taken advantage of it myself. I play ED, DCS, IRacing and such so I will wait till something compels me to order Touch as my wheel, hotas and keyboard/mouse are fine for what I play. YMMV
