I know Horizons is not even a beta version but ...

I think the OP is fair. After all, some things looked considerably better in alpha and premium beta than they do in the retail game. It is perfectly possible that it will not get better for horizons.
Then again, why don't we just wait and see.

Really? You think they aren't going to add textures to vehicles?

Apply a little logic here, you are comparing subjective graphical changes that were made over a period of two years of development of the main game which included optimisation to the normal process of developing a new feature and applying graphical improvements. These just aren't the same thing.

These graphics look poor to me, especially the dust. Jesus! I have seen this when blowing up ships (the exposion is not really a high-end animation or whatever). Just some 2D image looks extremely unrealistic. :/

Anyone else has this feeling? I don't want to land on planets that look like plastic and don't to see dust that looks like transparent paper (especially not if it doesn't even match the colours).
When looking into the distance, the graphics seems to lose quality and the planet itself looks like plastic. Also the crashed T9 looks just added into the environment (you would probably see it below the surface if you could glitch through). No real crashing impacts on the terrain, just an "added" T9. :(

I so hope there will be some serious improvement graphic wise for horizons because this looks like my phone could run ED.

What do you think?

And what did you expect, as you said it is not even in beta yet, did you expect it to be fully complete and polished. Get over yourself, it is still in development.

Of course there will be vast improvements in graphics and other aspects before full release ( don't expect it by beta either). Is that all you care about, what it looks like? You don't care that you can actually land on a planet now and go for a cruise about the surface. When an artist paints a painting, do you think it is done to perfection straight of the bat, no. The painting starts rough and then the finer details are added later. It is the same for games, the foundation is done first then the finer, subtle detail is added later. So your complaints are misdirected and untimely, maybe if this kind of footage was released immediately prior to release date then your complaints would have had some weight.

You seem to be a person ( and there are many on this forum) that keep wanting and are never happy or satisfied by what has been done so far. Patience, good things come to those who wait.

Is it not even beta? Release is in less than 2 months!

Exactly. That's why I am a lot more interested in, you know.. content, gameplay details. We haven't heard a lot about it yet, except for the general ideas. Graphics is by far the least of my worries...

Couldn't agree more....incredible work being revealed by FD. I for one can't wait.
My jaw is still on the floor from Wednesday night. My tongues hanging out. What we have seen in the last 48 hours is nothing short of incredible and we are worrying about spec of dust. Cough Cough. We should be drinking champagne and celebrating with the devs on a fantastic job

Click bait - Silly post - The physics are looking great which is what takes the time.... Dust? I think adding realistic particles will be the last thing on the list.

Still a couple of months off. Looks good to me. (i.e. FUN). Graphics can always be improved in the future with a MMO. Amazed they've done it all TBH.

lol i have no words for you

I've got to ask Y do u play this game your every post is doom and gloom what exactly are u expecting? Hollywood graphics and an actual space ship to jump into?

To the OP: Go away, kid. Get back to us after you travel back to 1983 when most of us grew up playing fine classics such as this...

The graphics in Horizons look FANTASTIC. I'm used to Space Engine which looks like this...

Which to me, Elite is comparable in many ways.

what? I think the graphics look amazing. Have you seen other implementations of full planets in games? Kerbal space program for example. By comparison ED's planets are incredible looking already. I cant wait to see Ice worlds though (First thing I'm gonna do in the beta is land on Europa if it is allowed :D)

I think OP has a point. The planetary surface looks pretty plain atm, and there's zero planet haze. This may well be true for completely airless moons, but I hope we get to see much more variety even at launch.

More important than graphics is the driving feel however - and I think Frontier nailed that. The video was EXACTLY what I was looking for in a space buggy simulator.

10/10 would tumble down a crater wall again.

This is the reason why we can't have nice things.
