I know it's been asked before but. . . Keyboard and mouse or controler better for accuracy?

For me personally, "depends on the game". In some games, I suck when using a controller (such as a gamepad), whereas in others, kb/m combo is worse than a gamepad. Typically I am better using a gamepad than a mouse/keyboard control scheme in "racing" type games.... eg Forza Horizon 3, The Crew etc.

For ED, I've gotten used to a joystick (X52 HOTAS), have not touched the mouse and keyboard for it since 2014. I'm betting if I started on mouse and keyboard for ED now I'll suck at it :)

Galloping galaxies ... no such thing here, for sure, but I did a couple of guides which many will have seen but, for those who haven't:

1. Circle-strafing:

2. Fixed weapons:

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...s-No-2-Beginner’s-Guide-Courier-v-FdL-PvP-vid

Don't forget your third guide. It may be largely focused on gimbals, but the conversational descriptions of evasion and general tactics in includes made it (to me) the most valuable of the three regardless of weapon type.

When is the fourth coming out anyway? ;)

As a 100% FA-off KB+M pilot I would say they are more accurate if you are (willing to spend the time) familiar with them. I travel and play on a laptop so HOTAS is a no go for me as I decide a while ago to stick with one control method.

For accuracy definitely more accurate but for actual flying and piloting not convinced as everything is digital input i.e. either 0 or 100% so fine manoeuvres can be tricky until you learn how to limit your input.

Check out my vids on how I've set myself up with KB+M controls if you need a hand etc.

Honestly for elite i would say the controller is more accurate, i tried he game with mouse and keyboard but it was far from accurate (this is probably because i have spent 2+ years playing the game on xbox).

It's not the gear though, it's the user behind the gear.

My experience is that really good gear won't make you a better player, but it will allow to be the best player you can be.

That being said, 144hz G-sync monitor improved my Kills to Death ratio noticeably.

If you really want precision, trackball.

Second this. I actually use a trackball, with lots of buttons, and a Logitech g13. Along with FreePIE, which let me program very precisely the feeling, snsitivity and - yes, I got it! - a relative mouse on/off switch, it's awesome!

KB+M is probably more accurate but I want to fly like a space pilot, not a desk jockey ;)

This.

I bought HOTAS for Elite and it gives me "the feel". I fully believe KB+M is more accurate, all the top duelists fly so, but HOTAS is more immersive for a flight/space sim.

To each his own.
