i have been spoiled with the smuggling "exploit" honestly most fun i had in the game and made loads of money, and its not that i cant make money, its just the fun things left in the game dont make me enough money and the things that do offer money are boring and grindy

i just want something to work towards that wont make me claw my own eyes out like rank grinding

Try doing things not for money. I mean it's a bit cliche now but seriously, I got to the point of owning an Anaconda and every other ship in game and nearly quit. Joined a few player groups and now i'm playing more than ever. Elite Racers, Fuel Rats, Hammers of Slough etc etc.
None are expensive, none are really profitable but all immense fun.
I mixed my "grinding" with the playergroup fun with 2 playsessions of fun and 1 of "grind". Unlocked all engineers that way, got my ranks for the Vette+Cutter etc and still here...

To give you an idea my current activity is trying to beat the 2hrs 12min Buckyball racers record from Sol -> Sagittarius A*. On the side I'll be rescuing more people from running out of fuel and maybe dabbling in some PvP and alien stuff if I ever need a break :p

What I find odd is you describe activities as "fun" but only if you make lots of money, I could be wrong but it seems to me what you like is the money itself not the activity, otherwise you'd have carried on smuggling even after the nerf..

Kinda impossible to answer the original question with that in mind..

Go explore the galaxy.

To me, acquiring money and ships was never the "goal" of this game, merely a means to an end. That end, for me, was to go out into the galaxy and do whatever I want.

Pick a minor faction or player group and support them in the BGS, whenever you run out of inspiration they'll have something on offer. Stash some ships/general purpose mission modules at one of their bases and you can switch between loadouts depending what they need doing.

Try to make something terrible good, like a beluga with quad plasmas with engineering, go on an exploration journey to find the biggest landable planet, get some friends and do community goals, they're fun

Have you been to SagA/Collonia? Got some earth-likes with your name on?

Have you gotten gud at FAoff?

Been to some of the unusual outposts? Done a guardian site?

If you have all the everything, what do you need even moar monies for in the first place? There's nothing you really neeeed it for unless you're a compulsive Hotblack Desiato fan.

And if you don't enjoy playing Pretend Spaceman if you're not making equally pretend monies, why are you playing Elite?

This is not a "gimme ur stuff" post, but you need to really think about what you're trying to get out of this game at a "how is this truly entertaining me" level. The mere acquisition of credits is a relatively empty pursuit in this game as there's no appreciable endgame requiring you to be a quadrillionaire.

Circumnavigate the galactic rim.

Teach a new player to be better and wealthier than you are.

Join a CQC match.

I've been there.. but as other players have pointed out, it's not that there was nothing left to do, I was just burned out and not wanting to do what was left to do. Here's a quick rundown of stuff:

Triple Elite
King
Admiral
All 20 engineers unlocked to grade 5
All system permits
Buy all of the ships you like
Truly learn how outfitting works. I've seen tons of people just throw stuff together, Understand DPS, understand incoming and outgoing resistances, understand shields and hull, understand thrusters.
Now go engineer all of your ships. Learn what true god-rolls are. Learn the max you can get on every module and shoot for that.
Build the highest DPS ship you can come up with. Now re-do it so it doesn't cook itself.
Build a racing ship (Courier, iEagle, ViperIII, etc) that exceeds 850m/s
Build an Anaconda with a jump range that exceeds 60ly
Alternatively, build an Anaconda with the most extreme jump range you can come up with, then stack an FSD boost and a neutron star and set a long jump record.
Build and then learn to effectively fight in a Railwinder
Train Harmless NPC crew up to Elite
Do PowerPlay if for no other reason than to collect modules
Visit nebulae
Visit black holes
Visit mitterand hollow
Visit Betelgeuse
Visit all of the generation ships
Visit Dav's Hope, Orion's Folley, Stranded Snake, Lewis Lost, and all the others.
Visit the Formadine Rift including the Zurara.
Visit some Asteroid bases and some Mega Ships
Here's a good thread for POIs: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...s-CQC-structures-and-other-new-in-game-assets
Land on Achenar 3. Do it again in a big ship.
Visit the Guardians sites, do the Ram-Tah mission.
Visit the Thargoid sites, get hyperdicted
Go see all of the different planetary things, like brain trees, space pumpkins, geysers, lava sprouts, barnacles, and whatever else is out there.
Join the Fuel Rats or other in-game groups.
Go to Colonia
Go to Sag-A
Go to Beagle Point
Achieve Top 10 (not top 10%) in a CG or two.
If it's cash you want, engineer a combat ship and stack massacre missions. Even three at a time you can make bank doing them as long as you have a really good ship. Stop when you reach however many billions make you happy. Or don't stop at all.
