I need to clear the air

I hate it.
And I admit, I'm not processing this well.
It may help to step back and look at just the facts here. Would you agree they lead to the conclusion that no one at FDev would want you to suffer? You are suffering, and it's regrettable, and you have every right to feel pain from it, it's just never true that anyone did this to make you suffer.

After all this effort they've done to put the galaxy in your hands as it were (very good analogy there actually) you can be sure this group of people want to better that offering and give you ever more depth to immerse yourself in.

I unfortunately have a history of being neglected and abused. I spent many years thinking it was me until therapy had started to change that.
The Elite announcement about consoles dragged up all of those feelings and emotions about being thrown aside all over again.
I hate it.
And I admit, I'm not processing this well.
To some it is "just a game" and yes, it is but it was also more than that. I am a space head, I love looking and reading about our galaxy and this game put all of that in my hands.
So yeah.
I'm sorry if I offended anyone but this has been a really crappy piece of news.
Depression is hard man. Go look at a beautiful flower. Stare into it and realize how all the atoms of that flower make up something beautiful. All those quarks might have universes inside them... We don't know. The connectedness of it all. Hopefully the color comes back for you.

Hey man. I've been where you are. I was abused by a Narcist GF in high school and spent most of my adult life recovering from that experience. I can tell you that it is possible to get out of this hole. It's hard and you have to look at things about yourself that aren't plesant but you do have the power to overcome this even if it doesn't feel like it.

I have said this many times and I am seriously not trolling when I say that FDEV treats their customers like a codependent relationship. As a console player I choose not to let them rule over me. I am going to continue my life the way I want too because I choose too. Not because fdev thinks I should get the short end of the stick or some useless forum troll thinks I should shell out money because "muh master race". That is how you conquer a no win situation like this. I have been asked many times why I choose to be a consoler and my answer had always been simply because I choose to be. I'm not beholden to give anyone an answer because that's my choice. So you choose to have faith that we will be OK. That the friendships we forged here will continue on beyond just this game and that one day we will find another game that we can settle on and be as passionate as we were in Elite.

Thank you for sharing your story.

EDIT: to clarify I am not saying you can willpower your way through depression and trauma just that your willpower is required to push you to the next stage of your healing process.

OP: Don't let it drag you down.

Clearly this game means a lot to you - I'd say 99% of people here feel the same way.

Don't feel down or rejected - there are folk here that backed the original game, have the PC version and still feel let down. So you are not alone - and, most importantly - are not being targeted.

Personally I've never been let down by this game. I've played a few thousand hours of it and have recently moved on (actually feel bad about admitting this) in favour of other games - which is fine. I could feel let down - but I don't have time for that. It's an amazing game, and although I don't play it ATM, I do feel that all the KS backers - wherever they are - have given so many others a light in their lives that will burn for a very long time. You're one of those that got to see the splendour of the Elitiverse. What a lucky person!

In loss, don't think about what you have lost; think about what you have gained (unknowingly) or, in the future, what you can gain.

Hope this isn't against forum rules, but take a look at Starfield by a different game company - OK, it's only single player (player mods aside) and is coming out at the end of this year. It WILL NOT be ---- Elite ---- and never will be. But damn it looks like it might scratch my recent permanent itch (the creams I got from the pharmacy didn't work). There are other games that others might be able to push you onto. Try them out and get immersed!

It's easy for others to say 'chin up' and get on with it. Must be a real loss. There will be other things and other opportunities.

Most importantly - don't let the past come back - tell it where it belongs - and find yourself new futures. There are an infinite amount out there.

And now, for something completely different...

Not Nerf guns, Manticore Oppressors, which have a similar accuracy and effectiveness.
Woah! Is your avatar the bird from Mysterious Cities of Gold!? I ask because I bought the SIX DVD box set which included a poster and post cards about 10 years ago and watched the lot. Great series. A massive influence in my early teenage years. Awesome avatar. +10 g'trillion.

Damn, now I've got an ear worm for the Mysterious Cities of Gold theme tune going though my head...

The first thing I thought when I read the console update was "At least they won't be screwing that up again any time soon". That thought wasn't just aimed at FDev though. It seems like every developer screws something up with every major change to their game(s). That's just how the gaming industry works now. At least ED on console will stay in a familiar state.

While this machine below is by no means a power house, it can run ED on low settings @ resolutions below 2k, and has a good upgrade path, so you can build it up as you can afford.

Again, it's no power house, but not s terrible starter machine for the price. Especially considering th current market, and chip situation. You'll probably want to OC the video card. If you need help with that I'm sure there's plenty here besides just me who can help you with that.

It's just really tough financially right now and let's leave it at that.
Also, has Frontier confirmed full account migration yet? That's the only possible way I would do it, if I could but right now not feasible.

Yes, the Golden Condor. I was the same age as the Esteban character from the Mysterious Cities of Gold when I watched the series in the 80s and I too have the DVD box set. I don’t know if I relate to him - maybe I relate to his adventurous nature. But so many characters from TV series in that era - I might have been Cmdr Joey or Cmdr Wheels or Cmdr Snake from Degrassi Junior High but there aren’t many avatars for them 🙂

Not as of yet. I want to be honest with you here, I don't think cosmetics at least, will be possible. This isn't the fault of fdev, this is just due to how console accounts retain the product ownership. (On Xbox for example, when you buy arxs they are assigned to your Xbox account, not your frontier account.) This means to get that transfered you'd basically have to either pay Microsoft, or somehow get them to give up the information, and by proxy future sales, for free. The specific relationship between the console account and that which is account data outside of cosmetic materials, I am honestly unsure on as to account ownership, however if it is the same that would completely explain why it is that the current model of liquidate and rebuild exists.
I know that isn't good news, and there isn't anything beyond speculation regarding the later, but I suspect it's the case.
Having said that, in all but the cosmetics, it's surprisingly easy to rebuild if you do it right. I know, I did it myself. I'd be happy to show you how when you are ready 😊
