I still have the Alpha in my basket...

Paying £100 for a months worth of play in a very limited dogfighting scenario - hmmm, is it worth it? Only you can say whether its worth it for you.

But personally I would say even a fantastic full game is not anywhere near worth £100 never mind paying that amount for only a months worth of play. And we dont even know what this game is going to play like yet. It could be rubbish. Just be patient and wait for the full game to come out. There is no need to even buy the Beta, you will regret it when you get fed up with playing the game before its even come out. I think most Alpha backers will be that that point already. They have wasted their first play of the game on an unfinished dogfighting game. The hype is great here but dont get sucked into it. Go play a few other games for six months and come back then.

I do not think that I have wasted anything. I have enjoyed each Alpha phase that was released. And I am expecting Alpha 4 and other future updates and releases even more enjoyable as they will introduce nonlinear gameplay elements.

My greatest doubts regarding OR is 3D. I cannot stand it, I cannot watch 3D movies or play games with 3D glasses. It makes me feel uncomfortable as soon as I put these glasses on and might cause headaches.

Oculus Rift doesn't really work the same way as 3D on a 2D surface, it's more like natural vision. Give it a try before you rule it out (although maybe wait for DK2 or CV1) - it's the single biggest jump in gaming technology since games began IMHO.

I am not saying that I have ruled it out. I just said that I have some doubts but most probably I will get one. However, I am waiting for a CV. Until then I am sticking with TrackIR.

I'm more invested in an Oculur Rift, but I'm not sure if the use of the device will require far more processing power tan the rig I have now, which runs dandy with everything on HIGH.
I was lucky enough to borrow an oculus rift from work, and it makes a huge difference... I just ordered DK2 :p!

I don't have a feel for how different computer parts stack up, but my i7-4770, 8GB RAM, GTX 660 machine runs alpha 3.4 well with DK1, with occasional slowdown in the space station. I have no idea what the frame rate is though,
