The game offers many careers - bounty hunter, trader, miner, scavenger, mercenary, gladiator, explorer, scientist, chauffeur, bounder, cad etc. - but one thing not yet offered is actually being a ferrier of fee paying passengers as an APEX pilot.
How about working for APEX, either for a set salary plus passenger fees or on a freelance basis, with missions on the fly while you're out in supercruise or waiting on a hangar, to pick up passengers waiting on ground ports or literally anywhere on a planet.
If waiting in a hangar, you could be asked to both take a NPC working for a specific faction to a location and then wait for them to finish their business, while putting your ship at risk from enemy fire.
For that matter, if you have a capable ship you could even ask to be a Frontline Solutions pilot dropping off soldiers into a war zone. Just make sure you pick them up and not get blown up by inbound rockets and things.
How about it?
