Duke Nukem Forever came out before HL-2 Ep 3.

They must be swimming in money to just let an IP like that just sit there.

Oddly enough, there was an interview with people from Valve last year where they compared the "problem" with HL2 to Duke Nukem Forever.
Basically, they said that, much like Duke Nukem, the expectations for HL2:Ep3 were so far through the roof that anything Valve created would be likely to be perceived as a disappointment and so it wouldn't be worth the risk of developing the product at all.
They summarised by saying "Don't expect any more HL2 products at all in the future". :(

Ok then..we shall reconvene in 2020. I would like to understand how they thought they would deliver carriers last year but then realised (a month or so before scheduled release date), it would actually take another 2 years? Mistakes can happen and deadlines missed. But that's like me saying "yeah, I'll build a house by Xmas" and then realising i've only laid half a dozen bricks by November. Either something went on behind the scenes or a monumental failure of project management occured.
IIRC they told us 4 or 5 months before scheduled release that Fleet Carriers will not make it into 3.3. The internal decision was probably made earlier.
We don't know about the reasons, it might be that they didn't have enough time. It might be that fleet carriers better fits to whatever comes in 2020. It might even be that it'll be part of the smaller content updates.

Only if you assume they are lying, in that case it doesn't matter if they tell or show you something because you could just assume they made it up.
Or if you assume, as we're so frequently told, that everything is subject to review, alteration and cancellation.

On a balance of probability, it seems most likely that FDevs are doing something, it would seem to be suicide to be doing nothing, but we have no form of proof of what they are doing.

As yet.

Carriers aren't scheduled for the 2020 DLC:

That means the carriers are out of update 4 and will be delivered as a paid content next year? For real?
No, that's not what was said. :)
This sounds like "we're taking out content from Beyond ch.4 and putting it in a future, paid update".

Man, this is disappointing.
Just to clarify that's absolutely not what's being said, or being done.

The future content that has started in production is a whole new era/chapter/milestone in Elite. Much like Horizons was and like Beyond was/is. Please rest assured that this post is not suggesting that we are taking content and moving it to paid for content later. Hope that helps.

Maybe they'll come as one of the interim updates, given the CM posts here and elsewhere saying they're still planned. Maybe they'll never make it over the line. Who knows. They were a free update that got re-prioritised for whatever reason (tech roadblock, staff redeployed on more pressing ED work, whatever). Stuff happens. If it was a paid, advertised feature that got dumped post pre-sales I could get some of the salt. (Hell, if the pitch for Carriers added up to more than 'grind fuel to move your Squad carrier' I'd get it even more).

Strictly Zac's quotes there don't prevent Carriers from coming out at the same time as the 2020 DLC - he's just saying that they won't be part of the chargeable content of that DLC. They could still arrive at the same time but be available to anyone with the base game / anyone with Horizons.

No, they may come out at the same time, but be free for everyone or for people with horizons. I also suspect there will be a substantial amount added for everyone like there was when horizons first dropped. It will be interesting to see how it goes.

Sure, that could happen. But it's just one of a spread of possibilities, given what they've said. Rambo was talking like it was the known public plan to release in 2020 with this bit:

Which it ain't ¯\(ツ)

He actually said that Fleet Carriers and Ice Planets were re-prioritized after Beyond 3.3 (I can't get the quote right now).
It means that after the release of Beyond these should've been the very first features to be released in the next patch (even if it takes 1 year).
When contents for new players were released in April it was preatty clear that priorities changed again so it's legitimate to be upset and hypothesize that things may change again in the future in an even worse scenario (features cancelled).
People blame FDEV because they only provide partial information. When they post-poned these 2 features they gave no clue about when. Just say December 2019, and if you can't make it then be transparent and say you had issues ant it's post poned again to June 2020.
People will always be upset anyway, you can't control this, but when you're transparent the complains stops there. When you hide things it's normal that people star blaming for everything.

That's incorrect.

Honestly? It's a little early at this time to say where fleet carriers will fit in terms of schedules. The team are very keen to bring them in which is why it was on the plan initially. But at this moment other areas of work were prioritized in order to make the for a better update and content for the community as a whole. We'll obviously share all the details as soon as we have more news but the next things we'll be talking about will be the content in Beyond - Chapter Four.

Sure!

Squardons is still a major part of the Beyond - Chapter Four update. However, the fleet carriers specifically were prioritized and unfortunately won't be making it into the Chapter Four update. they may well come in the future and that doesn't mean that they will be paid for content. But as you'll see in the post of mine above, it's a little early to be able to talk about the dates and details at this time. We'll soon be able to share more details on the Beyond - Chapter Four update as a whole. Hope that helps?
Hi Viajero

We'll be sharing everything that's in Chapter Four in the coming weeks so we'll have more details then and I'm looking forward to seeing the communities reactions.

As for the Fleet carriers and ice planets, it's still too early to talk about how or when they would be making their way into the game. We'll be talking more about "beyond, Beyond" sometime after the Chapter Four update is released. :)

Actually it seems like you forget what was said before. Your comment was completely unrelated to the discussion and now you want that Max makes a point about something he never discussed. Maybe you are the one who should see a doctor? :)

He did take the bait and allowed the conversation to begin didn't he? I merely pointed out that his reply was vacuous and he didn't want to actually make a proper argument, I'm OK with that, when someone doesn't reply with a proper argument it's kind of over.

Regarding my memory, you can rest assured I have no problems with that given the psicometric tests I have taken.

Maybe you'd benefit from tracing back the discussion you are discussing about.

Except I said again and again I was not discussing that. So no I didn't take any bait. Thats wishful thinking on your part.

Your test results were obviously in error or maybe you forgot the real results and made up some others.

Maybe you'd benefit from tracing back the discussion you are discussing about.
I think that you should be the one doing that.

I asked again and again for your proof and you refused. Case closed I believe.

You really need to view my comments in context. It was in response to the suggestion of carriers being 2020. My own view is just that it's a failed deliverable.
